Good music is always offensive. So it's not on the radio, but I can't listen to slayer or NWA on the radio either, it's no big deal, just remember that music is always offensive.

No it's not...not by any means. A given song/genre may not be to everyone's taste but it's absurd to state that 'good music is always offensive'.

Not really...The best Rap...NWA, ICE T, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Snoop Dog, Wutang Clan, Ol Dirty Bastard...Most of that is not fit for the radio and offensive. Rock and Roll including Elvis was offensive when it came out. The Best Funk, like Rick James was offensive. The Best Heavy Metal, like Slayer and iron Maiden is Offensive...thing number of the beast...just that title is offensive to many people and most Christians. Punk Rock was always meant to be offensive, the Sex Pistols, the Ramones, Dead kennedies, Agent Orange...all Offensive.

Now you can say that there are many non offensive bands, singers, like Michael Buble, and Taylor Swift, and Perry Como, Most Classical Symphonies, Jazz without Lyrics...and I would agree.

But Rock and Hip Hop and Metal and Punk...that's meant to be offensive or Dangerous. Not starting an argument with you...just saying that there should be some controversy with out music or it's just there to put us to sleep.

LOL Yeah I know it's subjective. And yes you could put all kinds of bands ahead of mine, including Rick James. LOL

But the core thing I was trying to say was that music should sometimes be dangerious and controversial. Just like Rock was in the 50s, just like how the Beatles were and the Sex Pistols and Rage AGainst the Machine. Music can be a mirror of the times we live in and a protest and a machine for social change.

Sure, but it's all subjective, right? Even this thread...my opinion is that the song in question is kinda creepy, and that is something that I've come to observe over the last few Christmas seasons. Yet I get misty over 'Fairytale of New York'...and I'm not even Irish! OK, this year I have been, but that's another story.

That’s so crazy, because, baby, it IS cold outside 😕

It was kind of refreshing to hear our news and weather people this morning tell us, baby, it’s cold outside......it’s bringing out a rebellious streak in some people, I’m gonna be saying this all winter now

if it weren't for for the ARTS life would be terribly boring , not everyone connects with nature on the level that brings them joy , so we have art instead!

We need art otherwise everything would be grey and boring , we need shock and we need offense
(we need to keep continually pushing our perceptions or be pushed by them! ) praise be the VULCANS

Not all rap though. Rap is a huge Genre with everything from Christian rap gangster rap. I realize I listed some rap artists that are controversial and have some songs that denigrate women, but not all rap is like that. Just like not all Metal is about Satan and not all country music soungs mention pick up trucks and dogs.
