I'm not getting that this is political, stupid..yes, lame..yes, very weak..so very..yes.
This is one loser, and one weak assed station programmer.
Other station programmers may not fold to this crap, I wouldn't expect a rap station to fold. I'm curious as the the format of the station in question..who are they catering too, I doubt it's a political demographic.
In any case, a very weak decision by this station..boo to them.

Objective or nuanced opinion on this thread seems to be discouraged.

If you disagree with the Cleveland Radio stations decision, then you must also believe the station removed the song because Democrats don't like Donald Trump.

How do you get from disagreeing with song being removed to not liking Trump?

I always thought that under capitalism, a privately owned company like a radio station can choose which songs they play and which ones they do not. (As long as the lyrics do not break any laws of course) I also always thought that under this system, if people did not like the choice of music that the radio station chooses, advertisers would pull their adds and the radio station would go bankrupt ... Am I missing something???

Anything and everything that bears a slight resemblance to a Global Warming counter, like "Baby It's Cold Outside" must be censored.

When was the last time you saw a Chilly Willy the Penguin cartoon on TV? I rest my case

Exactly.

This was NOT a political action and is not a political issue.

From Jazz to 2 Live Crew to Ozzy Osbourne, radio stations have pulled songs based on issues of Sex, Violence and Drugs for as long as Radio Stations have been playing music. Christian organizations have historically been the ones to bully radio stations into not playing music that they decided encouraged immoral sexual conduct.

Was it a dumb move? Then and now? Absolutely.
Is it a "Ban" on the song? Not at all. It was a radio station in Cleveland. I hear the song constantly when out and about (Not the good version by Ray Charles either).
Was it a political move? Absolutely not.

I have asked repeatedly how this is a political issue vs. cultural and have yet to receive an answer.

You'd be right if the reason for the banning wasn't political in nature.

But it was.

So you're not.

It *is* political because the station I call won't remove those songs from rotation over my complaints

In and of itself, it's not a political thing.

But it is the result of political correctness run amok. So intent upon not offending anyone, that you wind up offending everyone.

This is a result of trying to make a world one size fits all.

I don't like the song, never have, but I find removing it to avoid offending people to be even less likable.

Not sure is anyone around here remembers when radio could truly make or break an artist, but back in the day (70's) there was something known as the Payola scandal.

It is the result of nothing new.

Same as it ever was.

Only people's fake outrage aimed at assigning political blame is new.

Thanks for sharing and sure these songs were not 'banned' but yanked from certain radio stations as well by their owners. Consistent with capitalism.

'Over the Mountain' by Ozzy is playing right now on my favorite radio station and I am listening too it because it is a cool song. If others didn't feel this way I am sure it would not be on their playlist either.

Right now of I could listen to 'Over the Mountain' by Ozzy or "Baby it's cold Outside" I know which one would win and thanks to radio stations who play music that one wants to listen to as well.

Well.

The outrage machine goes both ways.

Glenn Greenwald: CNN gives into right wing outrage on commentators remarks about palistine at UN

I'm sorry but that's just funny. Funny how when the tables are turned it's a bad thing. If it was a left leaning group, they would be seeking justice, but since it's a right wing one they are an angry mob attacking an innocent profressor/journalist who was only seeking to do good.

Glenn Greenwald is a straight shooter and has called the left mobs too.

Anyone who can't see both sides lose their cool over little things is blind.
