Hey look, it happened on 4/20.

I'd kick my sons' butts if they did anything like that.

I thought the teacher was keeping his cool above and beyond what should be expected.
Hats in class are not allowed.
Take off your hat or go talk to principle about it.

I don't agree with you.
Let me tell you what I feel is proper adult behavior...

1.The teacher explains the "No hat" policy of the school, then asks for it to be removed.
2. When the student refuses, the teacher continues with the classroom lessons so as not to disrupt the entire class.
3. When the bell rings he tells the student he's getting an infraction and to go see the principal.
4. The teacher calls the front office and leaves a message for the principal explaining the incident.
5. That's all he can do. It's up to the school to contact the kid's parents and discuss the situation and or any disciplinary action the school is taking. Such as, he will not be admitted onto school grounds if he continues to use a hat.

Yeah, that's about all that can be done. When I was in school, we would have gotten three heavy smacks from a paddle. Discipline being taken out of schools has made things so much worse.

I mentioned in an early post that I thought that video may have been staged. The teacher should have just said take off the hat because hats are not allowed in class. I do not know any local teachers that would have taken that and argued like he did, most would have told the kid to take off his hat then if he gave any gruff he would have been sent to the principals office. Rules are put in place to keep things flowing correctly, in this case, if not a staged event, the teacher should be talked to about not handling this situation correctly.

Follow the rules or try to get the rules changed. That is what I say about immigration too, illegal aliens must get legalized, not let them break the law and accept it as ok. All illegal aliens are criminals because they broke the law to get here. We need to get it so it is affordable for immigrants to get legal, my son in law has spent over eight grand so far and that is a lot of money when you have a family. It will cost about another five grand to finish becoming a citizen which will be done maybe in about three more years, they have had a lot of medical expenses lately that take all their extra money.

So teachers tend to back liberal or Democratic views there too it sounds like, it probably is true that Democrats in office give more raises for schools there too.

Gosh, when I was in school failure to obey would have gotten you sent to the office immediately, and once in the hallway you best be making it directly to the Principal's office post haste, and you would be instructed to tell the Principal why you were there, and your story better match exactly with the teacher's story...because "Swats" were additive. Boys were already going to get their choice of swats or serious detention time (and if you were on a sports team you BETTER pick swats, else be late for practice which was even worse). Each infraction came with it's own separate punishment, so if you got sent to the Principal's office that was one offense (with it's own punishment), and then if you lied about what happened that was another offense (with it's own punishment, consecutive with the fist). Best to cut your losses, else it was going to be a long and painful afternoon at practice, because word of lying always made it to the Coach and you were already sore when you got there, but he'd ensure it got worse.

We had pretty good order in our school, and parents stayed out of it. Girls got a pass though.

ETA - Oh, and loitering in the hallways during class was yet another offense (complete with swats). You better have a hall pass, and they had a destination and a departure time on them. Anything else and ... BEND OVER!

Teacher should get suspended without pay for stupidity he let a teen take control of his classroom I have seen bigger balls in a daisy box of bbs. All he had to do was say no hats and made everyone remove theirs and if any student did not then send them to principal for further training. Instead he decided to debate the issue and chose to disrupt students by moving them elsewhere.

I'm sure you grew up to be a horrible person with PTSD that needs a safe room now and then....lol

I tell my two boys that life will chew you up and spit you out with zero concerns once you leave the safe education bubble. My kids in success or failure have never seen a participation trophy...

LOL! Yeah, can't you tell?

It taught you respect for rules, respect for authority and responsibility for your own actions without someone (parent, etc.) being able to intervene and save your dumb ass for doing something stupid. The way parents looked at it was when you were in school they owned you, and when you were out of school the parents owned you. And if parents didn't like that arrangement they were free to find another school for you to go to, but that's the way it was and there was no debate.

No one knew he was filming it until the very end where the girl says "OMG He's filming it!".

Definitely staged, by him.

I totally agree, the kid was a punk and he was purposely antagonizing the situation. And, he should have been dealt with accordingly.

However, evacuating the class was equally stupid.

Two wrongs don't make a right.

Yeah, back in the old days we were taught how to honestly survive on our own and do so while still respecting the rights of others.

I'm sure the teacher would have just demanded he take off the hat, with the threat of a week's detention, or whatever the typical punishment is... If it was just a random cap.

But in this scenario, the kid wasn't just wearing some random cap... It was a MAGA hat, which has come to symbolize a radical political ideology, which has a significant amount of support within the US, atm.

Seems to me the teacher was fully aware of the political implications of the statement... then as a result, dealt with the situation by walking on eggshells.

Yes, he did, and stands revealed as more than a bit of a punk, and a brat.

That doesn't change the fact that the teacher reacted poorly.

Well yeah, you're actually right... an epiphany could generally be better described as "priceless".

This Teacher, wait he is not one, needs to be fired and will soon be the hero of the leftist socialist crew. Saying its racist to have a MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN anything on is beyond ignorant and anyone who says it needs to have a serious medical exam.

Hat kid and his friend are the same two kids in this video. They walk down the street and proceed to be attacked by an angry mob of fellow students. Hat kid was the one holding the flag and apparently got his arm broken in the ruckus.
