It's unfortunate that the need for revenue seems to make the site difficult.
I am paying attention to what charlyv is saying..a bit over my head though.

www.thesslstore.com...

Is there a solution here with TLS 1.3?

I can't remember about a year or 2 ago I listened to a Security Now episode where they were saying that there issues with SSL and known security vulnerabilities during the whole Symantec Google debacle with the certificate authority replay attacks

I forget all the details

www.theregister.co.uk...

I'm mot saying completely off grid because my annual utility bill is probably no more than $15-1700 a year but am beginning to think of going back to cash transactions and damn this satin's creation.

Im not sure why the site dose not use (https) but it would sure be nice to know that there is some form of encryption between me and your servers. Also almost every site on the web now uses it.

There's a couple reasons we've not adopted SSL/HTTPS.

We have a rather complicated CDN caching arrangement for our site images and member upload space. Upgrading the CDN to be SSL/HTTPS compliant (since everything on the page must be SSL/HTTPS) is a bit cost-prohitbitive right now.

Not all of our advertising providers are fully capable of SSL/HTTPS alternatives for some ads. Meaning that the number of ads available to us would be less. Even Google's AdSense, AdExchange, and Double Click for Publishers warns that HTTPS pages may have fewer ads available to it.

That being said, I have been looking into SSL/HTTPS for logged-in members, which is only about 15-20% of our average daily traffic. This might be something we roll out in 2016, but since this is all just me, I can't be definitive.

I wish you would elaborate on the winsock cash comment. I'm running win. 8.1 and have no idea how to access that feature.

Still in chrome and got hit with a 10-12 second delay posting this comment.

I did suspect they were experiencing financial restraints. That's unfortunate because I do enjoy this site.

A work in progress that will take time. Will pursue this. Thanks!

What's the superior system in you opinion? Have piddled with Ubuntu but Microsoft has made it difficult to run or even duel boot on new machines. Bought an asus chrome book a while ago wanting to get away from M soft but my desktop is set in stone as I see it unless I order new without M soft.

Have an older computer. May drag it out and piddle with Ubuntu again.

Vmware workstation I believe 12 is free.

Just boot up any linux distro actually Tails linux is designed for browsing anonimity and things like that and is pretty stable. Workstation is very simply to use.

Just boot up workstation anytime you feel like you need more security and browse in Tails

Its virtualization so you are still running Windows

Just look up "installing tails on workstation 12" on youtube its really easy

Am rudimentary familiar with tails. Anonymity is my preference but using tails does present some inconveniences. It's a choice of animosity or convenience. Tough choice.

But am going to further explore your guidance.

Would using a private browser window help? As far as I know all modern browsers have that possibility, and when you close a private browser window everything used on that session (cookies, browser history, etc.) is deleted.

Vmware workstation I believe 12 is free.

VMware Workstation Player is the current free (for personal use) version, but it only works on 64 bits operating systems. It can be downloaded here.

But VMware is not the only virtualization option, I also use VirtualBox, a free and Open Source option, available here.

Posting from an iPad, on a private tab, without any problems.

Edited on the same iPad but on normal tab, also without any problems.

Sorry, wrong thread.

The only vehicle that can really come close to protecting you today, is a VPN.
It just destroys all of the methods that these perps have to come and get ya.
Sad but true, and cheap, if your livelyhood depends on this technology.

Does a VPN block/delete cookies or prevent browser fingerprinting?

As long as we're complaining, the forums really need to be cleaned up/consolidated as well.

And.. it is not ATS, it is your browser and how you manage it.

Then why is it that the only latency I experience in daily surfing (forums, news, shopping, government websites) is with the AboveTopSecret.com website? Doesn't matter if I use Edge, Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Chrome.
