So you are now arguing the manner in which questions are asked and answered is irrelevant?

Bernstein says, the media can decide "what is news," and edit everything else out.

Yeah right . why should we take Bernstein's word for it... Like thats even his real name , the next day it could be Bernstain and nobody would ever know the difference ....

They already edit the crap out of Trump. The only footage that Media Circuses like CNN use in reference to Trump, are clips that they can manipulate and distort for public support, as they try to drag America by it's hair, kicking and screaming, right into the New World Order.
edit on 23-11-2018 by IlluminatiTechnician because: he felt like it.

Either way the media will edit it, time only affords brief snippets (that can be used to attack or defend the POTUS.)

IMO the press conferences should be live and uscripted, in my part of the world parliament question time is live and unscripted, the national press club is live and unscripted, interviews with politicians are live and unscripted. The only way to get the real McCoy is to film these press conferences in it's entirety, that way the media can't edit out choice little tidbits.

Doesn't the media edit them already? Maybe it would be fair for the Whitehouse to edit the media's publication of their edited press conferences so that everyone has a chance to control speech.

As to follow-on questions, the new rules allow for them. Acosta's continued disruptions and attempts to dominate the conferences have prevented actual journalists from asking their questions. If anyone is guilty of suppression of a free press, it is Abilio Acosta. He should be assigned a seat in the back of the room and be in "time-out" for a while to learn his place in the world. He should begin to ask well thought out questions and accept that when others ask the question he wants to ask, shouting over them and pontificating is not the way to behave. I do not believe he can be one of many reporters and will soon cement his martyrdom in the CNN hall of fame when he is booted again and the journalists present have a chance to ask their questions without interruption.

Looks like Bernstein's socialist past is beginning to surface again. Thank the Pantheon that he commentates for Commie News Network.

If I were Bernstein I would be more worried about people looking into the whole Watergate mess he helped create (and the missing money) then about editing press conferences.

Question for everyone:
"How long do you think the daily press conferences will last if the media did start creatively editing them?"

Not long. How can we now trust anything Berstein did, say, or do in the past?

If the media edits to fit their narrative Trump should state that live press conferences are a thing of the past and that each journalist (and I use that term lightly) offer up one question from which only the relevant to"what the hell is important in the lives of Americans, what's going on the world, etc." type of questions will be answered via a press release. If the media doesn't like to effin bad; then ask a relevant question.

What is this has-been talking about? Watch CNN. All they do is edit.

Famed Watergate reporter Carl Bernstein doesn't think the media have enough control over President Trump, so he's offering a radical idea: Don't broadcast his press conferences live.

That's ingsoc speak from the ministry of truth.

Bernstein doing Orwell proud.

He wants to edit it to take out Trump's lies and BS? So he wants to make Trump look better? I'm not following his logic.

Fools oust themselves. Trump has done so many times, and apparently, Bernstein has as well.

I think you were not following the narrative.

He wants to make sure that anything that can be skewed negative regarding Trump will be presented as news.

Anything positive will be thrown out.

For the narrative.

Hope that helped you, in some little way.

Most broadcasts are edited in real time moments before they actually air "LIVE". Its possible many things can be edited and we would never know.

I think we don't need any media in the USA. They are all pundits and attempt to slant the news to their views.

I think we should go to press releases. Everyone gets the same statements and everyone plays nice!

this already happens every day

news shows and comedy shows take snips and then spout their opinion after the short clip... barely anyone ever watches or reads a full speech these days
