Didn't see this anywhere on ATS yet, but I may have missed it...

Famed Watergate reporter Carl Bernstein doesn't think the media have enough control over President Trump, so he's offering a radical idea: Don't broadcast his press conferences live.

That way, Bernstein says, the media can decide "what is news," and edit everything else out.

"We need to start thinking of a different way to cover his press conferences and briefings," Bernstein said on CNN's "Reliable Sources" on Sunday.

"I don't think we should be taking them live all the time and just pasting them up on the air because they're basically propagandist exercises because they are overwhelmed by his dishonesty and lying. ... Maybe we should be there, edit, decide as reporters what is news, and after the press conference or briefing is over then go with that story with clips rather than treating the briefing or press conference as a campaign event, which they really are," he said.

Daily Wire

I had thought Trump did a rather brilliant move with starting to Twitter, thus bypassing the media spin on what he said.

Now, we have a part of CNN that HAS to have a press pass to challenge the President on his opinion of things, while another part of CNN really REALLY wants to edit the press conference to spin it their way.

Seems to me to be just another way to attempt to control the narrative.

What think you, ATS?

So basically CNN is saying its viewers are not smart enough to listen to his whole presser and decide for themselves what is relevant and what is not.

Whats funny is its viewers will all agree and defend this.

Not sure he was ever really that "Mighty"...

The Watergate scoop was leaked to him by the CIA director at the time, if I remember right...

So it didn't take that much, even back then, to copy/paste.

If they can edit, they can control context, then inject their own spin on it.

They can make Trump their puppet, primarily to embarrass him.

The possibilities are virtually limitless.

They kind of do it now anyway. Usually starts with something like "here's what Trump said" then play an edited clip with no additional context.

No more bashing CNN from the president, of course that will be edited out first.

They'll probably only air the bits that make the president look bad with everything else edited out.

Leftist control-freak assholes showing their true colors.

I can make my own opinions, thank you very much and strongly demand access to the original source material, not the media's version spun the way they want it.

FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION and THOUGHT - Bernstein should Google it.

Fascist much !

True, but it's refreshing when they just come out and say it.

You know, to remove any lingering doubt that they're not just feeble-minded haters.

You were... I'm on a turkey/stuffing/gravy buzz and my sense of humor is... somewhere else?

I'm at work right now so my married workers can be at home, so the meal was from a casino buffet.

I'm chock full of additives and preservatives and growth hormones and salt.

Berenstein/Berenstain they should get Nelson Mandella (the true name of Schrödinger's cat) to edit it.

At least that would probably make it simultaneously true and false.
