Have you ever given consideration to why all recent Presidents maintain good relations with the Saudi's? Not to change the topic to something logical, but I can't help myself.

We cut off relations with the Saudi's and walk away from the Middle East, what happens then?

I think Russia and China walk right in and take over. I can't help but think that would be worse for the world and the US. You?

Kashoggi was not an American citizen (Saudi citizen)
He was hardly a 'Journalist' (did a couple of columns for WAPO)
Kashoggi was a fierce supporter of the Muslim Brotherhood...and a close buddy with OBL.

But, by all means, condemn Trump for not destroying a strategic partnership with an important ally in a critical region of the world...because a country had one of their enemies killed.

EVERY country assassinates their enemies...on a regular basis.
Even ours.

Acting like they don't is just being intentionally stupid.

Dude, Trump has leveled massive trade tariffs on Chinese goods, big tariffs on his allies in Europes goods, tariffs on Canadian goods. That has thrown the world economy into disarray already.

Don't you think it at all weird he didn't blink to throw tarriffs onto China/Europe/Canada/Mexico, but when it comes to Saudi Arabia he's on his knees gobbling the crown princes dick?

Very uncouth... you ever thought this IS the deal? Trump works deals and seems to be doing rather well in his efforts...

Why in the hell would I want a “smart wife”?

As long as she can handle a gun and cook and one other thing I can have a happy life.

It does not take a degree to understand why China and Russia would want control of the Middle East and replace us there. Oil for one thing. Strategic location for another. The same reason that like I said, all recent Presidents maintain as good of relations as possible with the Saudi's. They would have all been incompetent had they not.

You control the situation by providing products and services they need. We stop, others step in to fill the vacuum.

It's not rocket science and I suspect even the partisans complaining about this for the most part get the why. Just like they got the why over the last few decades on both sides of the aisle.

Keep your friends close and your enemies closer is a life lesson we for the most part all come to understand as a necessary evil.

At the same time, while we keep a good relationship with them, we change them, they begin to see that there is a better way to live.

This is True Sir . Economic Power Rules in the 21st Century . Without it , the USA Becomes a Third World Country of some Serious Pissed Off Citizens . the Saudis are a Necessary Evil the USA must Deal with , or Lose a Large Part of their Economic Prowess .

Who is he working good deals with again? Not his own cabinet. Not his own party. Certainly no one across the isle. Not with leaders of other countries. Perhaps with Melania to sit quietly by his side while he cheats on her with x-porn stars... that he can't make a deal with. Them's good deals right there.

Orange man good.

For over three decades the world has demanded the US stop acting like the global police; stop imposing its views on the world.

Trump gets elected president and now the world is demanding the US be the global police.

In a myriad of things I've read in the past, one thing that I remember is the fragile pipeline and oil supply China has. One "report" I remember is that China has been so non-aggressive because they have (at any given time) just a 2 to 3 week supply of oil on hand. And that's for their infrastructure AND military.

China would seize any opportunity to gain a clear supply, and that could potentially change world dynamics.

Leftists could give a good god-damn about any journalist.

This is just an opportunity to attack Trump.

Of course it is. I would argue it isn't even about Kashoggi, but because Trump didn't say what they wanted him to say, that he didn't do the virtue signal dance in front of the entire world. I mean, read the OP.

If virtues aren't a valid basis of criticism in this case, what is? Increasing profits? Making sure Kushner and MBS maintain their giddy hand-holding?

We all *should* be critical of our politicians. All of them. The ones we oppose and the ones we voted for.
