A definition. I note the use of the word "abuse."

I'm sure they will cry cultural or religious freedoms.
I have little faith in the legal system.

I'm sure they did.
But that's not why the charges were dropped. Is it?

But how does that work when a parent denies a child life saving medical care in the name of religion? I know its happened, are they charged?

Yes, there have been instances of parents being charged, not sure it's consistent though.

Jesus you love talking in circles.

Just because you can't follow a line of thinking it doesn't mean it's a circle.

And just because you call it a straight line doesn't mean it's not a circle.

You play devil's advocate a lot, I understand why hes frustrated and it seems like you are talking in circles.

It's more debate, than a direct discussion of ones actual beliefs or philosophy.

Beliefs and philosophy often don't play well with critical thinking.

They can be based on critical thought. More often than not if you inherently posses it(logic).

Still, my point was when one side believes they are having a discussion and the other is debating, from a position they possibly dont even support. The dialog can be confusing when the "terms" aren't apparent.

Genital mutilation is wrong in whatever form it comes in if it is forced. It still baffles me that people are ok with circumcision. If the argument is that a female should be allowed to make the decision themselves at 18 then why is there a double standard when it comes to baby boys? Are they not allowed to make a decision themselves?

I'd like to see the transcripts of this trial. Betting that came up.

Why couldn't an adult sue their parents for mutilating their genitals without their consent?

It makes me sick too; this is anti everything against human freedoms. This so called Judge needs to be fired and re educated.

If Doctors were struck off and not allowed to ever practice again it might

go some way into getting rid of this barbaric medievil practice.

Anyone signing the consent form which would be one or other parent

should face a prison sentence.

This is not an American practise? .... So maybe even if second or third gen

in America the threat/fear of deportation might deter this practice from

occurring.

Just another third world practice of subjugating and controlling females.

I've always thought this practice is the most absurd thing even as a youth when I first saw it on some television program where they interviewed girls who'd actually lived through it.

If this is acceptable in the name of religion, hell why not cut off a foot or two or maybe a hand or two because they could potentially do some evil. That would make about the same sense.

That body part was not designed to be cut off and discarded. Its ridiculous!

Personally, I'm happy to not be sporting a turtleneck.
