I've been married for 24 years so I'm not in the dating game anymore (thank goodness)

But I do have a 16 yr old daughter.
Blonde hair, blue eyes and an athletic build.
6 pack abs unlike my 6 pack of pudding abs..
Beautiful girl inside and out..
No that's not just a dad talking..

But anyway, she has had a couple "suiters" that she says are just friends. She is straight forward about this with them too. No games.
One of them just asked her to a winter formal dance as friends and she accepted.

My question is, are men really placed in the friend zone? I know several girls that tend to date "bad boys" and then bitch about them being jerks and that they cant find a "nice" guy. But they know several men in the office that would treat them like gold.

I know of a fellow that I work with that says he is friend zoned all the time. Not sure why.

Are these friend zoned guys being jerks for wanting more from a female friend?
Are they only being nice to get somewhere?

Are these women using guys to help them move by leading them on?

Have you been friend zoned?
Have you friend zoned someone?

Again, I'm not up to date on the relationship thing.
I'm just trying to understand how a teenage girl thinks.

There used to be a thing called friend zone in the 90''s...but in today's world it is called the "options" zone....where you become an option and not a friend. Ex. An option for a sex partner, option for a hangout, an option to talk to or not, or an option not to be friends. Technology (specifically social media) is ruining relationships...and friendships for that matter.

I think every variety of “friend” exists, with the range of intentions. It’s really hard to know except individual by individual, relationship by rel.

For ex, my friends and I have numerous female friends we are just friends with.

There are also some that one party feels differently. There are some that in reality are friends with benefits, etc.

Friend zone can happen to anyone involuntarily. I friend zoned a woman yesterday, whereas I think I got friend zoned by a girl I kinda like last week.

One thing I will say though is that yes it can be problematic if one party really doesn’t want to be just friends. If they can’t handle that then it’s wise to be honest about that.

I may be wrong, but a 16 year old boy want's but one thing from a girl. It's not to be a "friend", but they will gladly take that until they can find an opportunity to try for more. raised 2 daughters. Saw many "friends" over the years.

Girls have a rolodex of guys,

Guys they really like
Guys that they kinda like
Guys that are just friends and will never be anything more
Guys that have may have potential but it will require time
Guys that are cute but dumb
Guys that are smart & nice but ugly
Guys that can help with things - homework, cars, etc
Guys that you know your parents will hate and that makes you like them more ------- These are the worst!

I could go on for several more pages. You get the picture. Yes a guy can be in the friend zone, so can girls.
There is also the possibility that your daughter hasn't decided how she feels about that guy yet and doesn't want her dad to go writing all over the internet about it.

I used to think that way too.
But she does have several long term male friends.
It's not something I had ever seen before.

Not true.

I have both long term platonic female friends, and ones that were sporadic fwb situations.

Not every woman and man are attracted to each other that way.

You wonder if girls keep this list in their daily diary (or smart phone for that matter)

No we keep it in our heads, and then compare with our girlfriends.

I went to middle school in one area and then moved. My girlfriends gave me updates on which guys turned into hunks in high school and which ones went downhill. We keep track of things like you wouldn't believe. I need to stop because I'm giving away our secrets!

Girls gossip A LOT!

I just reconnected with someone I had a crush on from like 10 years ago and a we texted last night she still remembered the first time we met and the first place we went for dinner. Girls really do have a good memory *face palm*

I have plenty of female friends.
It is understood that there will be no boinking.
The friendship is too valuable to complicate.

Friendzone absolutely exists. It is best when the parties are both friendzoned.

Some of my best and longest friends are guys. If they were truly just trying to sleep with me they are both patience and stupid.
