The other night I was in San Diego, staying near the Airport.
I woke up at my usual time of 3:30am, and was standing outside enjoying the night/morning. The helicopters were over on the beach, presumably the
next SEAL teams (they'd been up all night).
And as I stood there next to what I understand to be MCRD San Diego, I saw a lone Marine walking down the street in the dark. Just one lone
I said "hello", but he did not see me (as he should not have). He walked down the street, quick step even. I don't know where he was going, but
he was going somewhere. There were no drill sergeants, just one Marine walking down the street.
I was astonished at the commitment, in the early morning darkness. Just...
One lone Marine!
