In an OP-ED piece on Fox News, a contributor argues that firing Mueller would be bad for the country and would only stregthen allegations against him. I reject this thinking entirely. In my opinion, respectfully, Fox News is way off on this.

www.foxnews.com...

Instead of putting an end to accusations that Trump and his campaign worked with Russia to put Trump in the Oval Office, ending the Mueller probe before it is completed would only strengthen public suspicions that the president has something to hide and has engaged in illegal conduct.

The only thing that could hurt the country and the very legitimacy of the US justice system is allowing these rampant and unchecked obvious abuses to go unanswered and unpunished. It REEKS of McCarthyism. Despite all the denials (including from Obama himself), the far left has still carried on with their insane and contrived narrative. Trump's supporters, meanwhile, are equally steadfast in his defense.

Besides, nothing stops him from firing Mueller. The FBI has already investigated Trump and found no evidence of "collusion." A fact Rosenstein - the guy who appointed Mueller - acknowledged. Problem is, you MUST BY LAW have a belief that a crime has been committed which Rosenstein (and several employees fired for misconduct directly relating to the investigation) has admitted.

The leftists pushing this narrative will not be convinced in any scenario. It feeds their delusions perfectly. Instead, they should be focusing on shoring up Trump's base and making an example out of partisan political McCarthy-ite witch hunts. The DOJ/FBI and/or a special counsel is not above reproach, and in this case some very serious mistakes/attacks on freedom happened and those responsible must be held fully accountable, to the absolute tip-top maximum permitted by law.

Apparently the left still doesn’t understand peaceful transfer of power (not that that ship didn’t sail the day after 2016 POTUS election with immediate inception of #resist, led by Democratic Party leaders).

The Mueller investigation would have been shut down long ago in any self-respecting LE agency as the juice isn’t worth the squeeze, in this case the multi-million dollars US taxpayers are funding with no return on investment. The only thing keeping it alive is Mueller’s partisan ties to the left.

If there should be any special counsel functioning right now, it should be for investigating the election fraud on the part of the Democratic Party in Florida (for sure) and possibly Arizona and Georgia. Note I didn’t write voter fraud, I wrote election fraud - as in mysteriously multiplying ballots long after the election ended.

I really have no illusions about the Democratic Party stopping their shenanigans anytime soon...it’s really all they’ve got. No platform, no future ideas, and nobody (to date) to make an honest effort to unseat Trump in 2020. Their “star” couldn’t do it in 2016 and no one with near the clout of HRC has yet surfaced. Not to mention it’s looking like the Democratic Party field will be a mess like the GOP field started for the 2016 primary.

And yet they took the house with no platform as you say. So that means i guess when they do come up with one they will take the senate to.

As far as the Mueller probe until hes done people will claim all kinds of things. Trying to end it will just leave a cloud of suspicion to continue to plague the Trump presidency. Lets be honest hes not being forthright and continues to try to hide things.

My number one piece of advice to him stop hiding things.

I still don't understand how the special prosecutor hasn't been found to be illegally appointed given the fact that in order to appoint a special counsel you have to have a specific crime to investigate, and collusion is not a crime.

This precisely

Or that Rosenstein appointed him, when the law requires a Senate Confirmed AG. There is also no legal concept of "recusal" and Sessions was installed as AG. Rosenstein's appointment is blatantly illegal, in several ways

And like you said, there has to be an actual violation of the US Code as written (not some made-up buzzword like "collusion")

Hiding things? Because it is a partisan witch hunt.

A prosecutor must prove their case, entirely. The accused is under absolutely no obligation to aid that.

But he's already been investigated and cleared by the FBI before Mueller's illegal appointment.

Ending this farce is the best choice for the country. I stand behind the President 100%. Mueller should be "escorted" out by the 101st airborne Div. just as Republican President Eisenhower did the last time a dirty democrat tried to leverage public power for corrupt and illegal reasons.

I realize you’re blinded by partisanship...this election had the least amount of house seat flipped in first mid-term following initial election since the 80s...should tell you something (if not blinded). And I will admit there was the left message of obstruct, obstruct, obstruct...but you knew that.

Isnt it mind boggling? Their cognitive dissonance is real

Like you said Mueller is producing old news, nowhere near enough to justify the huge cost. Not to mention the FBI investigation that found zero evidence of any crime

Not to mention the mountain of actual evidence showing how corrupt, partisan and illegal the probe actually is. From the minute the loser Clinton campaign started whining about Russians and contradicting Obama's narrative on Russians, I knew we were in for fun times. Ideally, it is why I never believed it from minute-1

Thanks for replying Lab4Us

The attorney general is NOT the chief law enforcement officer. They are merely #2, created & appointed by the President to assist him in carrying out his duty to Execute (AKA enforce & carry out) the laws of the Union

POTUS is head of the Exec. branch. Within that branch exists the Cabinet (political appointees who report to the President - the AG is one of them) and executive agencies (like FBI, NSA, etc) who report to cabinet secretaries.

As it stands right now, Trump's own authority is being used to hinder his Presidency on nothing more than lies/outrage from squirley/buggy little #s who haven't been relevant for a very long time.

Pretty sure you're barking up the wrong tree with dragonridr.

That's just false. In the 2002 midterms (Bush 43's first) the GOP picked up 8 seats in the House and 2 in Senate.

And I will admit there was the left message of obstruct, obstruct, obstruct...

The Republicans’ Plan for the New President

On the night of Barack Obama’s inauguration, a group of top GOP luminaries quietly gathered in a Washington steakhouse to lick their wounds and ultimately create the outline of a plan for how to deal with the incoming administration.

“The room was filled. It was a who’s who of ranking members who had at one point been committee chairmen, or in the majority, who now wondered out loud whether they were in the permanent minority,” Frank Luntz, who organized the event, told FRONTLINE.

Among them were Senate power brokers Jim DeMint, Jon Kyl and Tom Coburn, and conservative congressmen Eric Cantor, Kevin McCarthy and Paul Ryan.

After three hours of strategizing, they decided they needed to fight Obama on everything. The new president had no idea what the Republicans were planning.

The GOP strategy from day 1 of the Obama administration was blanket obstructionism.

At this point firing Mueller wouldn’t accomplish anything for Trump. The damage is already done. There are sealed indictments already sitting in courts.

Go ahead, Fire Mueller, that worked out really well for Nixon. For those of you who are too young or never studied history. Nixon also called Watergate a witch hunt and a hoax. So, he fired the special prosecutor and they still found out what he did. I guess since honest Don is telling you it’s a witch hunt you believe him though, right?

I can’t wait for the day when the # hits the fan and the majority of the people on this site try to explain away all the evidence. That will be a good day and I don’t think it will be long now.

You see Trump knows this is coming and is scared to death. Remember Rudy, who used to be all over every news station defending Trump? Isn’t it weird that he has been out of the public eye for months now? Well that’s because he and Trumps lawyers have been hard at work trying to come up with a counter narrative to the Mueller report. It’s coming, and it will be soon.

He has no clue i am for or against Trump depending on the situation. But he wants to dismiss peoples opinions that don't agree with him as partisan. No wonder we can't discuss things anymore. Little does he know im a democrat that has spent a lot of time defending Trump from stupid partisan attacks. But that goes both ways ill defend Democrats when people say stupid crap.

There will probably be more Democrats than Republicans up for reelection in 2 years. Yes it may flip back Republican.

The thing is that if you have been paying attention to more than Fox News, there has been PLENTY of tidbits about Russian collusion leak out. The problem is that most Trump supporters call it all Fake news and have chosen to dismiss it. It really is incredible that so many people think anything negative against Trump is fake. Sad really.

I’m a liberal, and Im 90% convinced the whole Russia thing, in it’s claimed extent, is nothing but a large scale political strategy to distract from the 2016 election loss and to attack Trump.

I can’t believe useful idiots, which include a lot of my friends, buy it whole sale.

For the other liberals on here, you can both be liberal and recognize bull crap when you see it.

The only time o ever seen fox was of its on a tv when i eat lunch. Ive seem sheppard smith a couple of times and hes not a fan of Trump. But again you want to dismiss others opinions because your a partisan hack.

First collusion is not a crime just the fact you believe it is tells me you are clueless on this topic.

Second if Mueller had something on Trump he would have released it by now in order to continue the investigation. Next Mueller has flat out said Trump is not a criminal target. Meaning there is nothing he had found that would bring up criminal charges. What you will get is a report that says that Trump acted inappropriately by dismissing Russian involvement in the elections. This helped provide cover for Putin and does little to prevent it in the future.
