Admiral Morrison was apparently pivotal in creating the escalation of the Vietnam War.

He was most probably best remembered for being the father of Jim Morrison, the late singer of The Doors.

To put it bluntly, after all those years, his dad still thought he was crap.

That was a very good vid, and I learned a lot about Jim Morrison.

Nice to hear his family’s perspective, though I must admit I did tear up at the end.

Love The Doors!

The fact that over 30 years after Jim died, his father still hadn’t listened to one of his songs is sickening! He admitted this with no guilt. This guy was an Admiral. Wow!

This guy doesn’t deserve to be a father.

In a musical sense.
He knows Light My fire and that's it.

Back in the day no father appreciated the type of music
"Music ? I could do better with a wash tub and 2 sticks"
"And , that's the way it was on....and you were there"- Walter Cronkite.

How do you get that his dad thought he was crap out of that interview? I watched and see that his father loved him very much.

What is wrong with you people, his father clearly loved his son very much

Chill everybody, it was just a joke.

And although they doubtlessly loved him very much, the Performance art aspect escapes them.

Maybe not the sister (she doesn't reference it either way really), but the dad (who passed 2008, I think) clearly states that he never understood it.

I totally agree with you, and he admired his character as well. The last part of that interview had me in tears. You could feel the love in his eyes while he was talking.

Everybody can have their own interpretation.

But I think Jim was haunted, and unlike the movie, it wasn't by the temptations of the counter culture.

From what I recall of his autobiography No one here gets out alive, he told everybody his family was dead, and he actively avoided them.

I haven't read it yet.

Flip bro, I wish these purple mosquitoes would go away!

But this is highly recommended reading for conspiracy fans.

Were the hippies a CIA conspiracy?

Yes and no.

It went a bit further than they intended.

The CIA figured, let's give the peace movement '___', and make everybody look ridiculous.

Unfortunately for them, looking ridiculous became the new fashion.

The best part of today?

You got to help your dad.
The hippy son who came home.

The springs in the garage door need replacing.

The mission was a failure (the company must do it), but the attempt was a pleasure.

You're actually enjoying this - being male, being your own gender.

Recently I must say, yes I do.
