The congressional races were exciting. The country went purple. I am very happy about that.

Here in florida our ballets were front and back with many issues to vote on.

What I am asking is that everyone tell us where your from and let us know how your state was changed in this election.

After all ,in all the noise about the fed we have kind of forgotten the power that the states have.

FLORIDA.

The voters now get to decide on floridas gambling laws instead of the legislature doing it.

Felons will now have their voter rights restored once they serve the time.

Supermajority now needed to raise taxes in florida.

More laws passed protecting the rights of victims and a special terrorist investigation unit will be assigned to florida at the tax payers expense.

LOBBYING is illegal for past members of the florida government unless it is non profit. And it became harder to lobby in florida in general.

Dog racing is now illegal in florida.

Drilling in florida state waters is now illegal.

Aside from some mundane state races for Treasury and Secretary of State, and I never thought I would say this, things in Louisiana were rather boring. Some local issues, our mayoral race had some real winners. The current mayor shot and killed her husband in self defense, but then attempted to kill herself. It happened many years ago but always makes the campaign intresting.

She made the runoff against another character, who doesn't live in the city but used his Mothers address to run. He collects disability from the military but refuses to clarify for what disability, speculation is that it's for some mental problems, only served a short time and no deployment. The current mayor will win the runoff, both are Democrats.

Two issues passed in our Parish, Fantasy Sports betting, but odd since we have Casinos. Would have thought they would have opposed it tooth and nail but I guess it's a minimal distraction to them. Ironically, considering our candidates past and Louisians history, a convicted felon can no longer hold office. Should be intresting for the next city council election as I think half are exactly that which is now prohibited.

Alaska got an awesome new governor who actually has a plan for the state to replace the incumbant IDIOT who was the most unpopular governor in the US as well as being a total tool shed.

We failed to pass the Stand for Salmon initiative after tens of millions of dollars flowed into the state from various industries, unions, and special interest groups to stop it.

We tossed out the judge who presided over this abomination of "justice."
www.cnn.com...

Otherwise, it was a quiet night. The GOP did very well here and increased their majority on the state level while reelecting Don Young to Congress.

Michigan went Dem.
I feel like I should go cry in the street or something.

But I'm just going to wait, and see if the extra money I was getting from the lowered Fed tax, gets eaten back up by raised state taxes.

I'm betting the odds are 80/20 they do.

"I will fix the damn roads"

Ugg.

But we did Legalize, so maybe I need to take that up, to get through it all. LOL

That was one of the most important issues we were voting on here in Alaska. Dems want us to have income, sales, and higher property taxes, plus many of them want to slash our permanent fund dividend each Alaskan receives as a payment for the public lands oil the oil companies make so much money off of. Republicans don't want us to be taxed to death and want us to receive our PFDs. The thieves did not take power here and that was a wonderful thing. I honestly don't know how in the hell anyone can bear to live in a draconian #state that taxes the hell out of their productive citizens to redistribute to the Kept Voters that ensure that party stays in power.

Idaho is as red as ever. Pity Paulette Jordan lost the governor race, but it was never likely to happen. We did expand Medicaid, which is wonderful. I'm also happy with two local Dems who got elected.

Your so lucky to live in alaska.

Less people, wide open spaces, you have a level of freedom not known in the rest of the states, You protect and love your environment, you share the money that comes from the resources. You guys are doing it right.

Can I come live with you?
