They say Dems spent over 100 million on "Benito" this run. Let's see if you can buy an election in Texas....

Just finished voting. I vote in Missouri in a county that hasn't went blue since the 1970's. The thing that interested me was the MASSIVE amount of people actually voting. It seemed to be more than the 2016 election. Very odd for a midterm.

People in my county like Trump and his policies and they do not like communist wanna be losers.

If opinions on ATS are representative of US politics then it will be a total Republican victory lol.
MAGA n all that

Not total! There would still be a couple of Democrats, but just a couple.

You, know, just enough to be able to say it's not an all Red election/website. Keep it above water.

Unfortunately, CA and NY still get to vote for their own reps. To me, it's like asking a kid to decide what's for dinner...."Ice Cream! Yay!!!"....but eh...

I mean, how else do you explain Pelosi, or Feinstein, etc.?

I vote in MO too. I'm in south St. Louis city though. Lines were crazy long. I didn't have to wait at all in '16.

I mean it would seem predestined how Saint Louis city is going to vote. But sometimes I wonder about the southside. I would imagine its sort of purple-ish compared to the rest of the city proper. Except all along Grand and Kingshighway. :-)

Used to love going down in that area. Good pal lived right there at Grand and Chippewa. Had many a good night in that area. Is Manga still open? CBGB's?

If there was a poll between ice cream and chicken tenders/nuggets I'll bet it would be close!

Real close!

Most kids these days can't eat anything BUT chicken tenders/nuggets.

So it starts young, in the left leaning social engineering re-education camps.

Speaking of re-education camps, does it not bother you that not a single Trump supporter seems to understand what 'communism' is?

Education is certainly required.

Bothers me more when folks assume all Trump voters have the same education or grasp of economics.

I think folks on BOTH sides of the aisle are often misinformed of the actual definitions of communism and socialism, and often lump the two together. (which is understandable, since communism is basically derived from socialism).

Communism is like a utopia. It simply doesn't exist. If it did, there wouldn't have been rich people in Russia when they practiced it, because by sheer definition, all should be equal. It's been a failed experiment time and time again, because there will always be corruption in a totalitarian regime, which is basically required for it.

Socialism, on the other hand, is actually already present in many ways in the US, we just don't really see it as such. Our public schools are one example of it, as is the postal service. In Europe it's even more widely applied, such as with healthcare, utilities, etc.

The problem with both though, is that there's no incentive for improvement (like there is in capitalism, with a drive for profit), so things stagnate. I'm not saying socializing some aspects of society is necessarily a bad thing, but you have to balance that with this general problem (i.e. the lack of incentive leading to no innovations).
