Why is it that if we lie to the government, we run a great risk of being imprisoned, but if/when the government lies to us (which they do on a daily basis), we can't/don't seem to be able to make a citizen's arrest?

What is wrong with this picture?

I think this has been going on since governments began.
When you have absolute power( well almost) you can virtually
do what you like.

Sadly I don't see the situation changing anytime soon
