The unemployment rates are advertised about 2 percent lower than they actually are.

My job for the last 8 years is to find employees for companies.
After trump was elected business boomed.
Everybody wants to use one measurement or another to gauge the economy but from my own perspective trump is kicking butt.

How Team "Progressive" can constantly hold two contradictory positions is one of the greatest psychological and sociological questions of our time. I think the answer is Social Engineering and for some reason they are more susceptible to it.

Trump has kickstarted the economy no ifs, ands, or buts. And in the face of much resistance. Be great to see if that holds true and what he can do if midterms go the way they are looking they're gonna go. This vid really does put it into perspective.

I thought it was "The love of money..." ?
I'm probably wrong on the quote, but my gut tells me I'm right on the sentiment.

I remember back in 2016 when unemployment was 1 point higher and Donald Trump, the GOP and its echo chamber all said the Dept of Labor's numbers were fake and that real unemployment was orders of magnitude higher.

In fact, here's Trump from February of 2016:

Don't believe those phony numbers when you hear 4.9 and 5 percent unemployment. The number's probably 28, 29, as high as 35. In fact, I even heard recently 42 percent.

So now that the fake numbers are real?

No they are still fake.

But we are using the same scale - so unemployment has decreased under Trumps Admin. Even if the percentage is completely misleading.

Yep, this economic recovery only happened when Trump came into office right!?!?!?!

It is incredibly short sighted to say that an economic surge that started in 2009 is only the product of the current president. Trump has made several moves that have surely helped the economy but he didn't do it all. Obama also contributed and it could be argued that he contributed more.

Quit lying trying to give all the credit to Trump.

Yeah, All those car manufacturers and Apple really wanted to manufacture in the US already they just waited to announce it till Trump got in office. Obama said no manufacturing jobs were ever coming back - but hundreds of thousands have under Trump - but I bet you are still giving Obama the credit for it.

The steel industry just started booming again once Trump added tariffs. Canada and mexico dropped their tariffs and now china has announced they are ready to do the same. Cutting our trade deficits by hundreds of billions of dollars a year - yeah I'm sure that is not helping the economy. Only Trump wanted that to happen - but I guess he still doesn't get credit for that from you.

Consumer and Business confidence and the stock market all sky rocketed almost immediately upon Trump getting elected.
But I'm sure all of that is a coincidence to you. No really I am - you have thoroughly demonstrated your intelligence is severely lacking all over this website.

Obama sucked.

Trump is doing so well I dont think Obama or Bush were even trying.

Wow.......

Present you with a logical question of how you can attribute the economic recovery to one president when the recovery started in 2009 and your response is

“Obama sucked”

How old are you? 12?

Sure, a weak, lame recovery started in 09. When Trump was elected, it was as if the recovery started mainlining Red Bull...and that is thanks to Trump.

I have conceded the fact that Trump's policies have helped the economic growth. However, to say it is all because of Trump is disingenuous because the recovery started 7 years before he won the presidency.

I'm afraid the facts don't bear your world view. When Obama took office the economy had lost 4.4 million jobs in the preceding 12 months. When Trump took office the economy had added 2.2 million jobs in the preceding 75 months and had been adding jobs for the previous 12 months, the longest streak on record.

This shows quite clearly that Obama inherited a train wreck economy in 2008 but by the time he left office in 2016 the economy had turned into a powerhouse that Trump just stepped in and took control of.

LINK

I can keep quoting from multiple articles all day long, but the facts show that Obama, not Trump turned around the struggling economy. Trump has made several good economic policies but he is not the main reason. Not even close.

And in 2 years we added 4.5m jobs...more than double President Obama's 8 year total.

And you know what? I was not a fan of his, but I took my 6 yo daughter to see him when he came to town...I respect the office and want her to do the same...not act like the unhinged, screaming at the sky leftists.

Um. Yeah...

The track record for Republicans during my lifetime is to crash the economy and let the Dems mop it up...

A Recession is coming - can’t rack up massive deficits while the economy is good - it makes recovery tons harder. But here we are... I thought Republicans cared about deficits, but I guess not??

You finally made a credible , factual statement
Thanks , I had just about given up hope...
Under the Obama admin , the numbers were artificial . Seems like they forgot to account for the large percentage of workers who had fallen out of the workforce and forgotten
Now , that percentage is lowering
That makes that statement I quoted factual

Hey I agree. But to be honest Trump was never really a Republican. He is just more right than left.

Since dems will try and stop everything he tries to do you have to vote red so he can help us.

Depending on.How you want to measure it there were between 17 & 22 million new jobs during the Obama presidency.

Rate of job creation has been fairly consistent between Trump and Obama.
