Just saw this, and at first, I was offended. But then thought, how did native Americans feel when Europeans invaded.

What are your thoughts?

I haven't seen the ad.

All I know is that brown liquor has been getting more and more expensive over the past couple years and that ain't even 'merican whiskey.

I love Johnny Walker!

It inspired me to play smooth jazz on the bagpipes!

( ...try telling that to the public defender, when explaining your public intoxication charges...)
edit on 4-11-2018 by madmac5150 because: BTW, they will confiscate your bagpipes when arrested...

The ad is a miss for me. It's a Scottish company not American.

Keep walking = caravan?
My land=Aztlan?
Do they have press 2 for English throughout Central America?
Has everyone forgotten Veracruz, Mexico City and Chapultapec?
Guadalupe-Hidalgo and a little war in 1843?
The $20 million we paid for your land?

It's actually Japanese, they're owned by Diageo.

Diageo is a British company, and they own an array of different brands, including some based in the US, such as Tennessee Whiskey and American Whiskey. Clearly, as per OP, Johnnie Walker is also one of their brands alongside a whole clutch of other Scottish distilleries.

It's just an advert. Successful adverts tend to have a little bit of controversy, so that's what they are courting here. If it was just a burbling-Scottish-glen advert then it would be boring and would not end up on ATS!

Yep. I don't see much controversy, just not an ad that sells me their product.

Sorry, you are correct. I was thinking of the other conglomerate which is owned by Kirin.

Sorry Groot. I don't see what you're offended at. I think you're getting offended because you want to be, it's just an ad.

Is there anything political in any of the other ads where people get up and start singing?

What is offensive?? I feel like I was baited into watching a 2 minute boring commercial for booze.

I love hearing people sing Woody Guthrie songs,

I find the OP a little on the racist side. Like all tribal people are the same. You wouldn't call an Irishman an Englishmen, yet you seem to have no issues calling a Cherokee a Seminal.

Did not know Johnny Walker made a blue label, also.

Oh yes!

As to the ad...pitching Scotch to a target demographic is not a bad thing.

Um.

A bilingual commercial song celebrating America is offensive??

I don’t get it.

Immigrants can’t celebrate becoming Americans? Or Puerto Rican’s who are American citizens that speak Spanish?

Or is it just the language?

How did you feel about the pop song Despacito?

Do American liquor commercials only have to be In English? The can’t market to our bilingual population??

Seriously, I don’t get it. Why be offended?

And the right calls the left “triggered!”

😂

As a Trump supporter I thought it was great, But the libs say I'm offended so they can be happy.

Now do you see the issues we have.

Happy Monday!!

And yes I like it and like Red

I don't know why but Johnny Walker Whisky has not advertised in England (I say England cos I don't know if it's advertised in Scotland or Wales or Ireland) for a good 20 years. I don't know if they took it off voluntarily or were forced to take it off.
