Cannot view new topics more than 2 days old.

Why is viewing new topics limited to 2 days?

I cannot view new topics older than Nov 1 at 11 am.

I know why - In case somebody posts some real "sensitive" information, you limit the number of people who may see it.

Would anything before that still be new ?

Yeah I hate that too. What if you go on vacation...

I doubt you're missing anything.

it's not actually two days. from what i see the recent tab is limited to anything under 24 hours old or less. yet i don't recall ever having that happen a few years back.

Yes , in your day you could scroll back in time for longer.
But , there was a lot less activity.

An unlikely reason, given that the large number of people who use the Recent Posts page will still be able to see it there.
I've never bothered using New Threads, because all new threads appear automatically on Recent Posts at the same time.

You can go to every forum and see every topic ever posted so the "sensitive" reasoning you think applies just does not.

I think that´s what the archive is for or not?

Yeah, but recent threads show popular threads and ones with activity first.

Still this is no reason to limit the list from viewing.

Actually no, allowing people to look at older posts does not increase server space; As far as performance, I can't comment.

I don't go into all forums, only those that interest me, through the myATS feature.

I'm in the opposite position, as I never used the "new" feature.

The New feature would allow you to see all the new threads that came out since you last visited. If you were to use the method of going into specific categories, you would miss all sorts of threads.

As I stated . A long time ago , yes I was a lurker here from near day one , the timeline did go back further.
Why ? There were a lot less threads , A lot less.
It is most likely not an issue of the number of days , it is a limit for the number of threads shown
I could be wrong , as that was many years ago , in a galaxy far , far away
