I'm not offended at all. I've got some great friends that own bookstores.

The bigger stores are just doing their corporate thing. Patronize the smaller ones, and you won't be nearly as overwhelmed by the same few authors.

Sure, I can get books online, but I like going to my friends and asking their recommendations, etc., and I spend a few bucks more in appreciate of that knowledge. I also like that I can often get used versions of books there, and sell mine back for a little bit.

That said, I know a few authors too. I always chat with Timothy Zahn when he's in town (one of my store owner friends is chummy with him, so I try and come by when he's here). If you don't know him, he wrote some excellent Star Wars novels, including the best of all, the Thrawn series.

I love books. I wish more folks did.

Thank you. A sensible response at last.

I still feel there has been a sea change in book stores down the years. I used to be quite the book worm in my youth and the thing that intrigued me about book stores was the sheer variety of stuff. And that was the bigger stores.

Doesn't seem to be that way now, and I don't see it changing any time soon.

Thanks again.
