The Tic Tac shaped AAV (Anomalous Aerial Vehicle) that was seen by F-18 pilots and radar operators aboard the USS Nimitz and other US Navy vessels back in 2004, made the headlines this year, due to the released infrared footage of the encounter back in December 2017. There have been many incidents in the past, where military personnel have encountered unknown craft that were tracked on radar and performed aerial maneuvers that were beyond the capabilities of known earthy aircraft. One such case occurred in 1952.

On September 19, 1952, an aircrew of five men witnessed a circular silver object above the airfied at RAF Tocliffe in North Yorkshire, England. It appeared to the men that this object was traveling on a similar course as a descending Meteor jet, before disappearing at an incredible speed.

The commanding officer of these men, Flight Lt. John Kilburn, of the 269 Squadron, filed a report on this sighting.

One month after the sighting at RAF Tocliffe, a flight instructor, Flight Lieutenant Robert Swiney and his Royal Navy student, witnessed three saucer shaped UFOs while flying a Meteor jet from the RAF's flying school at Little Rissington, Gloucestertshire. Swiney and his student, Lieutenant David Crofts, were both shaken by this encounter and ended the training flight earlier than planned. Upon returning to base, both men were interviewed by the Air Ministry team. Lt. Crofts recalled that Air Intelligence mentioned to him that the UFOs were picked up on radar and that fighter jets had been scrambled to intercept the target.

It was later discovered that these men's statements had been destroyed and that nearly all records of UFO reports were routinely shredded prior to 1962. The only surviving document pertaining to this incident is a reference made in the flying school's record book. The document states that "three mysterious saucer shaped objects" were sighted and that "Air Ministry discounted any possibility of extraterrestrial objects."

The author of the book, The UFO Files, David Clarke, interviewed Ret. Flight Lieutenant Michael Swiney in 2004 about the incident. Michael Swiney stated:

And about two months before that the infamous DC UFOs happened. They were chased by the F 94 starfighters and they disappeared .

Coincidence?

Maybe .

But I think not .

Think the atomic age .

And it brings all of the sightings into perspective .

Ice entering the atmosphere moves very eratically and is normally doped with elements that obscure the fact it is ice.

As it flash boils the sideways pressure accelerates it.

Many UFO reports match ice caps entering atmosphere. (Like silver discs skipping on water.)

Flash boil explosions provide erratic acceleration patterns.

Radar tracked these objects:

www.nationalarchives.gov.uk...

As far as I know Primary radar basically works by transmitting a signal and capturing the reflections from a metallic target (aircraft). Doppler, dual-pol radars, can give a 3D image of weather related objects like rain, snow, and ice. I don't think a conventional Primary Surveillance Radar from the 50's could get a "hit" on ice.

Rain and clouds can attenuate the amplitude of the return signal of radar. Radar is basically microwaves and those get absorbed by the oxygen-hydrogen bonds of water.

True, a lot of people dont realize that boiling ice can travel the speed of light.

Plus the radar beams often make pilots hallucinate up there in the altitudes with all those...radio waves and microwaves from all the people, down on earth, using microwaves and radars and stuff, cell phone frequencies and wifi sattelites and cosmic rays beaming through their heads, and jet fuel fumes...

Theyre just trippin out all over the place up there, I wouldn't take anything they say very seriously at all.

Good thread mate and there´s also a document here about the event which mentions "the creation of the correction of public opinion" (whatever that means) - also a link to the Operation Mainbrace sightings which may be relevant.

'British Activity in the Field of UFOs':

"In some RAF field, there was some sort of demonstration to which high officials of the RAF in London had been invited. During the show, a 'perfect flying saucer' was seen by these officials as well as RAF pilots. So many people saw it that many articles appeared in the public press. This is distressing to [Dr] Jones because he realises that the creation of the correction of public opinion is a part of his responsibilities."

Thread

The "True Report On Flying Saucers" also brought up the Topcliffe case (link) and when it comes to the Little Rissington incident there´s a good interview with both pilots below (statements, log books and a description of how the records of the official investigation went "missing" here).

See 4:30

Cheers.

Before I had even seen a "UFO".. I believed they must exist.. I don't need to see one more video to be convinced that we get daily visits from all over the Cosmos.. If you still cant decide if it's real and happening. Then you are a small minded human being indeed. And that is why they mostly only watch.. because the majority are like animals in a Zoo..
Fed an pampered and kept in line with the whip.. so they wait until we "grow up" as a species..

Enough weird 'anomalous' stuff happens here on earth that would blow the average persons mind. Imagine if we still thought volcanoes were sentient portals to hell who required sacrifice.
