Your OP isn't very civil, in fact, majority of your posts are somewhat attacks on 'the left'. Which you can't even definitively define. What does a 'leftists' or a 'liberal' even look like? Lots of people call me a "lefty" yet I live an extremely conservative lifestyle, but fiscally I am liberal.

The point, I am getting at is that people are so quick to judge, so quick to yell and scream at someone for their political views, they don't STOP and think with an unbiased mind. You want to talk politics with civility, then come to the table without an unbiased opinion, to realize EVERYONE has input.

Which you cant definitely define? Define what a conservative lifestyle, while being fiscally liberal, even means.

Hold on. So the synagogue shooter was a Democrat? Nope. 90% of domestic terrorists are republican minus Antifa...those guys are DEFINITELY terrorists. But every Dem I know thinks the same about that organization. Your whole anti-Left rhetoric is tired and absurd. You don’t want poor people to eat and I don’t want my tax dollars paying for a $100M fighter (F-35) or $339M (F-22). You care about death and destruction while backing politicians who do not provide tax breaks for the middle class but DO provide corporate welfare to institutions with billions of dollars of assets. I can’t wait to get Trump out of office and if you look at my posts during the election, you’ll notice that I was pro Trump...right up until he took power and acted like a jackass. Talked about draining the swamp when he just refilled it with his own version of douchebags. Like, Sessions for instance. GTFOH with your bullsnip.

If you can't distinguish me pinching penny's and living below my means and me wanting regulated and controlled socialist platforms for my government then you won't understand. Being conservative isn't just bound to a political map.

Is this what it's come to? You can't live a centrist lifestyle without being judged?

I agree, but I'm not sure why you're surprised. This site has become the archetypal echo chamber where dissent is squashed with extreme prejudice. It's a shame, because things weren't like this when I joined. You could have friends and opponents on all points of the spectrum, and that was sort of the point. There was just a common goal of denying ignorance, and that's all that mattered. Now? Now, things are ugly.

The only reason I still lurk is to keep abreast of opposing viewpoints, but I'd rather not engage in discussion or debate because mentioning differing worldviews is a sure way to get jeered out of a thread.

Trump isn't helping the situation with his rhetoric by pandering to these right wing fruit loops. Same goes for Alex Jones and Rush Limbaugh. All of this conspiracy talk from the right does nothing but fuel the right wing delusional idiots. How many abortion doctors and staff have been assassinated over the past 40 years? Quite a few from my recollection.

Don''t need one, I value civility highly and won't give up on it based on the behaviour of others. I also try my best not to get a false impression of what true civility is or what can be counted as not being civil, even when it's something I or other people don't want to hear and prefer to take offense to or see as an attack and respond in kind.

1 Peter 3:15

But sanctify the Christ as Lord in your hearts, always ready to make a defense before everyone who demands of you a reason for the hope you have, but doing so with a mild temper and deep respect.

Romans 12:9,10

Let your love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is wicked; cling to what is good. 10 In brotherly love have tender affection for one another. In showing honor to one another, take the lead.* [Or “initiative.”]

Colossians 4:6

Let your words always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should answer each person.

Revelation 3:19

“‘All those for whom I have affection, I reprove and discipline. So be zealous and repent.

Reproof: Insight on the Scriptures, Volume 2

That which is designed to convince others of their having erred, in order to move them to acknowledge their mistakes and correct these. Unlike reproof, a rebuke may be a censure without any laying bare of fault by the presentation of evidence.
...
“You must not hate your brother in your heart. You should by all means reprove your associate, that you may not bear sin along with him.” (Le 19:17)
...
Although reproof can benefit those who receive it, the efforts of the reprover are not always appreciated.
...
Since the Scriptures are inspired of God, all reproof solidly based on them is really reproof from him. (2Ti 3:16)
...
The sinful human tendency is to resent reproof and the human servant through whom it may be given. But yielding to this tendency degrades one to the level of an unreasoning beast lacking moral discrimination; as the inspired proverb expresses it: “A hater of reproof is unreasoning.” (Pr 12:1) In contrast, the psalmist David, who was himself repeatedly reproved, wrote: “Should the righteous one strike me, it would be a loving-kindness; and should he reprove me, it would be oil upon the head, which my head would not want to refuse.”—Ps 141:5.

Although it doesn't always pan out as intended, being imperfect after all. But I haven't given up and I'm not planning on doing so. I highly recommend it for everyone, cause...

21 The wise in heart will be called understanding,

And the one kind in speech* adds persuasiveness. [*: Or “And appealing speech.” Lit., “And sweetness of lips.”]

22 Insight is a fountain of life to those possessing it,

But fools are disciplined by their own foolishness.

23 The heart of the wise one gives his mouth insight

And adds persuasiveness to his speech.

24 Pleasant sayings are a honeycomb,

Sweet to the soul* and a healing to the bones. [*: Or “taste.” See Glossary].

25 There is a way that seems right to a man,

But in the end it leads to death.

And are they really calling for civility?

Or are they just saying, "Stop attacking our irrational behavior while we attack you!"

I think those who are calling for civility should also be setting the example instead of demanding that we be nice to them. Between the media and the pundits, a narrative is trying to emerge that Trump and Trump supporters are all bombing Nazi's who hate kittens.

Never mind facts and actual evidence, with eight days to go for a scary mid-term election, people are going nuts! And the left was so sure to win this in a "blew wave".

And they are the ones calling for civility.

After two years of "Muh Russia" and deplorables, and Nazi's, sexism, and racist, and misogynist, and islamophobic, NOW they are calling for civility?

Bullcrap.

What they are actually saying is STFU!!!
What they are actually saying is, "Our 2 year campaign of negativity isn't working so censor yourselves and be nice while we tear you another asshole in print and television media."

So if you want civility to return, be the change you want to see.

Or kiss my ass.

Either works for me.

Talking about the beneficial value of civility in contrast to the negative effects of acts of rage such as the mass shooting of the 11 Jews in a Pittsburg Synagogue that you brought up...

Why do growing numbers of people seem incapable of restraining their emotions? What prompts these acts of rage? Is it actually possible to control these feelings?

Why the rise in rage?

To have rage is to feel or exhibit intense anger. Acts of rage result when anger is allowed to build until it erupts in a violent outburst of emotion. Commenting on the relationship between incivility and crime, Dr. Adam Graycar, director of the Australian Institute of Criminology (AIC), observes: “A renewed focus on respect and civility may be one of the most significant steps towards reducing petty crime.” The institute advocates exercising patience, showing tolerance, and refraining from swearing. Failure to do so, it claims, can turn disorderly behavior into criminal behavior. Ironically, a form of relaxation chosen by many to relieve frustration and stress actually encourages intolerance and rage. How?

“Children and adults flock to cinemas to watch depictions of death and destruction. The market for violent videos is vast and lucrative. ‘War toys’ remain popular with many children, if not always with their parents. Televised violence is greatly enjoyed by many, both adults and children, and television has an important role in the transmission of cultural values,” states an AIC report. How does this relate to outbursts of rage on the street and in the home? The report concludes: “To the extent that a society condones violence, the values of individuals within that society will develop accordingly.”

Many individuals today would argue that venting anger is just a natural response to stress, an unavoidable reaction to our high-pressure, aggressive society. Is it true, then, that the popular notion, “When angry, let it out,” is actually good advice?

Should rage be controlled?

Just as an erupting volcano wreaks havoc on those living around it, so too a person who expresses intense anger harms those living around him. He also critically damages himself. In what way? “Acting on anger leads to even more aggression,” states The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA). According to research, men who manifest anger “are more likely to be dead by age 50 than those who do not.”

The American Heart Association similarly states: “Men who experience outbursts of anger have twice the risk of stroke as men who control their tempers.” These warnings are relevant to both sexes.

What advice really works? Notice the similarities between the advice of secular authorities and that of the most widely distributed authority on human relations, the Bible.

Manage anger, avoid rage:

Dr. Redford B. Williams states in JAMA: “The simplistic advice, ‘when angry, let it out,’ is unlikely . . . to be of much help. Far more important is to learn how to evaluate your anger and then to manage it.” He suggests asking yourself: “(1) Is this situation important to me? (2) Are my thoughts and feelings appropriate to the objective facts? (3) Is this situation modifiable, so that I don’t have to have this anger?”

Proverbs 14:29; 29:11 “He that is slow to anger is abundant in discernment, but one that is impatient is exalting foolishness. All his spirit is what a stupid one lets out, but he that is wise keeps it calm to the last.”

Ephesians 4:26 “Be wrathful, and yet do not sin; let the sun not set with you in a provoked state.”

Frank Donovan, in his book Dealing With Anger—Self-Help Solutions for Men, recommends: “Escaping anger—or, more specifically, escaping the scene and other people in your angry episode—is a strategy which has special importance and value at the higher levels of anger.”

Proverbs 17:14 “The beginning of contention is as one letting out waters; so before the quarrel has burst forth, take your leave.”

Bertram Rothschild, writing in the journal The Humanist, states: “Anger . . . is primarily one’s personal responsibility. The reasons to become angry exist in our heads. . . . The few times anger worked for you pale in comparison to the multitude of times it made things worse. It is far better not to produce the anger than to experience it.”

Psalm 37:8 “Let anger alone and leave rage; do not show yourself heated up only to do evil.”

Proverbs 15:1 “An answer, when mild, turns away rage, but a word causing pain makes anger to come up.”

Proverbs 29:22 “A man given to anger stirs up contention, and anyone disposed to rage has many a transgression.”

The Bible’s advice really works.

Civility is a human concept that apply to a mindset in a society. It is no more than an opinion of what is acceptable in said society. Asking for a restoration of civility is like wanting to go back in time. Things change, so does civility, with the people that live here, and their mindset.

My personal opinion on the subject "Leftists asking for civility without being civil at the same time" is: First define the civility you want restored. Second, why would it be revelant in the situation. And finally, is changing an option?

The problem I see with "changing" in it's general aspect is that, it never changes anything. At best, it will make those that doesn't have the asked "civility" aspect in their mindset to refrain their own opinions which will then begin to accumulate until it explode and hurt someone else seen as an oppressor of their mindset.

The thing is, we are at the dawn of a great collapse, it's inevitable. Everything that ascend will one day descend. The conflicts, in my opinion, are a direct correlation to this situation. So for me, it's useless to call for civility because civility is not what humanity needs at this point, it needs radicalism, extremism, and guess what has arisen these last years the most?

You're playing the ultimate chess game. And in this game, the one that reacts is the one that looses. The wise position is to yes spell out truths, stand your ground (moral Natural law/ Ethics) and let them be the ones that react.

Main reason they want US to react through their constant bullying with their false narratives and false accusation is to have an excuse to push forward their agenda. The sad reality however, even if we do not react, the will fabricate stories like the bomber and how all trump supporters are exactly like that guy they fabricated in their false flag.

You are correct, people need to be the change they want to see.

However, what if the left are doing exactly that by calling for violence against conservatives? What they want is a chaotic world where only a few can rule while the rest are either persecuted, hauled into fema camps for "re-education" or to be beheaded.

Main agenda included global depopulation, so a "care bear" only threatens those plans because they want war and apathy.

The carebear may have more power than you think it does. Care= that which we would call God. But can you be a wise carebear? Remember, you can only self defense. if you move to offense you lose. Never go offense and always play defense with the truth no matter what firey darts the liars throw at you.

Everything happening now is in fact biblical, what you are witnessing with the left has a name. It is called "Mystery babylon". And it has already been unveiled for all to see.

No, the do not react and retaliate is a proven failed solution..and a lie from the very pit itself.

We do not need to follow the Script at all..in any way whatsoever and lie to ourselves that fighting back and actually entirely destroying our enemies is not the correct and right thing to do.
