Do US liberals think the UK is racist for defending its border?

The liberals here sound like the people in the UK who have lived in socialism for several years and from what I've seen of UK talk shows,I see a comparison,normal people worry about themselves,people of low self esteem all act alike

i live in new zealand i married a new zealander 40 years ago and have lived here 30 plus yrs ago did it legally even so i still think the aussies have the right idea you just cant have people arriving on your door step demanding to be let in otherwise why bother having laws just saying

How would you stop them, just let the criminals (not all are criminals..) run in and shrug the shoulders? You see how that worked out in Germany...

There are many people in the UK who think that discussing immigration is a racist act.

That said, there does seem to be a greater consensus in the UK that some immigration is bad, especially uncontrolled immigration that was practised under previous governments. What it does is make people unhappy and disenfranchised, while driving down wages, increasing house prices and congestion on the roads.

We have to wait an see what happens post Brexit. Our close EU friends like the French may well use Brexit as the catalyst to remove the barriers to migration to the UK, i.e. move their problems onto the British.

There is already talk that the French will tear up the juxtaposed border deal after Brexit. The UK has responded that they will implement airplane type security at the ports and the tunnel train stations so migrants can't just hop on board.
I heard it would be done by forcing the operators of the services to screen passengers before boarding or they will not get entry to the UK ports.
Definitely war drums in the distance, the French hate it, they are desperate to get rid of that slum rabble in Calais.

Where I think the racism comes in, at least in the United States, is when people starting generalizing all illegal immigrants as rapists and criminals.

Small minds can't grasp the big picture. They just dont get it, it's so crazy how they can't wrap their heads around such a simple truth. It seems they just take talking points from tv and translate it as truth, rinse and repeat untill they block all other critical thinking of their own and other's opposing viewpoints.

Blimey! Using Tibet as an example? I think you ought to Google Tibet and do some reading. Tibet has been taken over by China for over 60 years. They systematically demolished temples and outlawed the religion. China has forcible relocated hundred of thousand Chinese peasants into Tibet to swamp the indigenous Tibetan people. Why do you think the Dalai Lama left Tibet and can't go back.
Cornish, the French have always hated the British and I think that they have eased the passage of immigrants across France to try and blitz Britain with them.
As an aside just remind all the Brexiteers that Britain has NEVER lost control of its borders.

Except for the EU yes I agree.
I'm mixed emotions with the EU because I love so many EU mates who have enriched my life as my life tribe. I can't imagine losing them, there would be riots and Devon & Cornwall Constabulary don't have enough cops to kick them out.
I will fight and conspire for my loved ones, no matter where they are legally from. Every time.

Immigration is just a game though, I've played it a few times bribing border guards at land borders or in shady jungles lol
I'd sew that border up if I was Trump though, same reason I support the millions of £'s worth of fences in France paid for by the UK lol.

I seriously think the majority of people get mixed up with the nature of migrants. I do not think for one minute that the majority of British people object to most of the EU migrants. Dutch, French, German, Polish etc. most come to work. Only a small minority of EU migrants are trouble and the majority of those are from the Eastern EU countries.
Now the fox in the hen house is the non EU migrants. THAT is what the majority of people want stopping from coming into Britain. Don't even think the word integration because you and I know that the majority of those do not want integration and that is the powder keg that's going to explode in Britain.

I can imagine that this could cripple the work environment for those in both countries. I´m not up-to-date in this topic but I know someone who works in the UK on a regular basis. Have not seen him in a while, though.

Also browse comments on almost any news article. I never said those were the majority of people's feelings, but they are definitely out there. To answer the OP, that is when I think defending your border turns racists; when you start generalizing your racism as talking points and excuses.

The UK has already confirmed that anyone living and working here will get protected status, something which I was pleased about because I have many EU friends who I love dearly.
Talk regarding after Brexit is easy to obtain work visas, but opened up to the rest of the world as well, not just the EU.
We need foreign workers, that is a fact the government knows full well so something will be sorted out.

Britain will kick you out if you are illegal regardless of race. A white Australian will be deported if they are found working or overstaying their visa just as quickly as an Indian national.

Then more power to Britain. I self admittedly don't know much about their immigration policies. I can only relate the racism I see in the immigration debate here in the US.

I am pretty middle of the road in US politics (although it seems that translates to extremely liberal when it comes to ATS). I am all for legal immigration and think every country has the right to defend their borders.

Britain is harsh if you are caught, kicked out but after detention waiting for a formal legal hearing though.
I'm middle of the road as well, I pick and choose from both the UK left and right. I support controlled immigration and welcome workers who come here to do the jobs Brits won't. Heck my social group of friends has people from around the world, all here legally.

I massively support the fences and defence of our border on the French side of the channel. Our border is juxtaposed so it is actually at the French ferry port/tunnel train stations with British officers.
The ruin of Europe when those millions entered a few years ago hasn't hit Britain because they can't get on the trains and ferries, Britain makes sure they stay out.

All they have to do is register and claim asylum in France but they refuse because it blows their chance of claiming it in Britain if they can sneak in.

Your government is handling this far better than mine. We even notify those who will be sent away upfront, so they can walk to the next LEA (Landeserstaufnahme = a center where "non-registered ""refugees"" are registered) and book in under another name and get paid out. They made it a bit harder to do that recently, still they are being warned upfront officially.

It should go like this:
The day the hearing is done, that person should be physically present so that when it´s decided that they have to leave, his belongings can be picked up. Then he has no chance to flee to the next LEA or country or drive a truck into a crowd, rape some girls or stab random people.
