I hear ya.

No blade runner robots for me. Guys think women are high maintinance..... wait until we have women robots LOL...... plug me in, change my oil, my circuit board need fixing.... blah, blah, blah.

Then they will pass some robot rights law saying you cant disconnect them or turn them off. Next thing you know she is cheating on you with the washing machine because you cant satisfy her anymore. Then she walks out on you and you get stuck paying extended warranty support for the rest of your life.

How pornography changes the brain.

Repeated consumption of porn causes the brain to literally rewire itself.

It triggers the brain to pump out chemicals and form new nerve pathways, leading to profound and lasting changes in the brain.

Believe it or not, studies show that those who consume pornography more frequently have brains that are less connected, less active, and even smaller in some areas. [1]

I thought this was an interesting article which explores and talks about pornography's effect on the brain.

The implication being that it is or can be used as yet another drug to quell the masses.

The premise being that the masses are constantly being brainwashed or sedated, whether its the media (TV shows and "news"), street drugs, pharmaceutical drugs, alcohol etc.

Now adding pornography to the list.

Its an interesting article and perspective and thought I'd share it with the ATS community.

Porn is a multi-billion dollar industry. A few porn websites are in the top 10 of most visited in the world right behind Google and Facebook. Yet... everyone denies using porn. LOL.

How are those web site visitors' numbers calculated? Is there a way to distinguish between regular users and one time visitors?

They generally look at a combination of page views, unique site visitors, time on site and other metrics. The fact is most of these sites are getting billions of views per year which indicates that the majority of the population are using the sites in some form or fashion.

Even the most religious and uptight people get caught viewing / using porn.

Like I said, the porn industry cannot be generating tens of billions if not hundreds of billions in revenue if only small percentage are using it.

Porn has always been a catalyst for new tech. Porn is what popularized VCRs. The early internet and even days of BBS, porn was the early adopter.

I've seen vibrators (ahem, personal massagers) now being sold in mainstream stores like Walgreens and CVS. Sharper Image. This would not be happening if porn was not widely accepted.

The reality is that those who legitimately do no look at porn in any form are in the minority.

It's another form of addiction so that must be calculated into the numbers, as well as worldwide access now that it is available online and are catering to a wider audience, such as LGBTQ.

ATS says this is a family site so why is pornography getting a discussion thread.

People get blown up, that is fine.
People get kidnapped, that is fine.
Run over with cars, degenerate drunk+high +distracted drivers, no problem.
PlatenNibiruX is going to kill the world.. Yes.
Drugs should be legal..

Pornography, that's what should not be discussed.. Lulz

No doubt some people get addicted to it. However, I don't know that I'd say there is some kind of porn addiction crisis on par with hard drugs. I'd venture most people who view porn are functioning addicts.

It isn't like people are selling their kids to get access to porn sites. Selling off furniture and your momma's wedding ring to pay your pornhub subscription.

I know of some people who have been fired from their jobs for viewing porn on employer's time / computers but I don't know if that is addiction or stupidity.

What is this...

Porn is a healthy appetizer to get the blood pumping.. I bet a dollar its even healthy to watch for the majority.

Get some inspiration and have some fun. Exploration is the key.

Is porn for everyone ? ummm.. yes..

Your looking at it wrong , I guess if you hide in the basement all day and night watching porn by yourself could be a bad thing ,

But there's nothing better then kicking back with your lady watching it together it actually brings you closer and allows you to explore each others wants and needs , Makes for a damn good relationship and opens doors lets face it as we get older we tend to need a little spice because most of us have been there done that and welcome new experiences .

Porn absolutely does not explore any healthy needs.

What you can take from the information is that novelty = dopamine rush = addiction for more extreme novelty.

I think that the unfortunate reality of pornography today is that it is too easily accessible. There are few filters that can stop our youth from accessing these things.

Then once someone does access it, and becomes addicted to it, as your study shows it has repercussions.

In my opinion, the greatest threat from over consumption of pornography is that it very negatively affects a person's ability to form healthy relationships.

As someone who is committed to a person in marriage, it's obviously not all about sexual relationships. Although that is indeed very important in itself, love is not lust.

In order to maintain a healthy relationship, you need to strive for balance imo. That's of course not something that can be achieved easily but in terms of pornography all we see is an instant satisfaction with no effort.

I'm not a psychologist and have not extensively studied the effects on the younger generation. However to me, it seems like a no brainer that it would lead to some confusion about what a real relationship entitles.

So clearly this is a government conspiracy to dumb people down

If porn does that so does looking at a stripper or a girl in a skimpy bathing suit at the beach.

So are the brain changes beneficial or bad for us?
