Yup. I was actually looking at my sample ballot tonight for Washoe County NV. I'm not a fan of Dean's but I have to vote for him since he backs the constitution more so than Jacky. We lost a Senate seat in 2016 and we really need to keep this seat from the Dems.

Also I am no big fan of Dean but in the past his office has helped me get a lot of issues resolved. So he has my vote.

This is actually an excellent question. I've felt for years that polls have been used as a tool to pressure certain supporters to vote or not, none more obviously than in the 2016 election.

Would releasing figures now showing Republicans ahead mean that when official voting day arrives, more democrats are incensed to go and vote? I can't see any other reason for publishing this data early? Isn't this technically... meddling in an election???

The numbers MAY be absentee ballot requests - maybe - and they MAY refer to the requestors party specification for primary elections. It does NOT mean that 'GOP' absentee ballot requests will actually vote GOP or vice versa. It is an indication only of the percentage of self identified party affiliated voters are expecting to be away from home on voting day. And that is all.

Absentee ballot requests DO NOT translate to votes cast one way or the other - though traditionally, absentee votes do favor the GOP apparently because those voters like to be 'out of town' more than Democratic voters.
