Isn't technology great !! My first thought was at the highest setting what would the weapon do to a targeted individual's eyes ? What type of protection could be used against such a weapon ?

I have thought and wondered now for many years about the survive-ability of soldiers at war when faced by a first world government and not a bunch of people who think the AK is as good as it gets.

Where all this tech will lead is anyone's guess but I would bet the control mechanisms that can be brought to a conflict will make pedestrians think twice before going against TPTB .

As the Daily Mail recently explained, the weapon will be able to “produce a range of effects”:

At the lowest setting, the weapon can produce speech, and it will be able to warn people up to 3,200 feet (1,000m) away by delivering voice messages.
When it gets closer, the weapon will deliver a ‘Flash-bang effect’ by sending an ‘acoustic blast of ~ 165+ dB at minimum distance of 100 meters’.
It will also be able to send a ‘Flash blind effects (6-8 million candela)’ momentarily blinding people at minimum distance of 100 meters
The highest setting of the current model will let loose ‘Full scalable thermal ablative effects’ through common natural clothing (i.e., fabric, denim, leather, etc.) at minimum distance of 100 meters. This would painfully vaporize the outer layer of skin – rather than burning it will be turned into gas.

Vaporizing skin? Yes, that’s precisely what “scalable thermal ablative effects” means.

Ultimately, as the government’s program plan lays out, the weapon would “have direct application to many other U.S. Government agencies as well as civilian law enforcement. The Department of Homeland Security, Department of State, Department of Justice, the Secret Service, and Customs and Border Protection also desire this full spectrum of effects capability. The ability to non-lethally interdict a threatening person or persons has utility in many security and crowd control applications to include several municipal applications.”

They are gonna stop before it burns more of the body? Gonna be trained in percentage of skin that is being burned that is not lethal per person who is being targeted? Right, not gonna work like that as that of course would vary. Non lethal really sounds like the wrong term. It should be at least potentially lethal.

I wonder if this Is the tech related to those old stories on the net about the USA having a controllable plasma weapon that looks like ball lightning and they can make it speak. They could use it to give a religious experience tailor made for the enemies faith. Could even vaporize a infidel to make it more believeable.

Throw down your weapons this is the voice of allah. Next thing they now Nadeem just melts heavy metal style down to his bones. They drop the AK-47’s.

Some people would look better without their face.

Oh yes!

By all means ... let the Police have them.

What could go wrong?

Why not give them to We The People via the 2nd.

Wait until the gangs get them! Drive by Plasma attacks.

Putting aside the dangerous implications of such a device, talking plasma actually sounds pretty cool,

For those who haven't come across it yet, musical tesla coils are pretty fun - basically musical plasma;

(Is it bad that I want a plasma weapon?)

“Outer layer of skin” there are 3 layers to skin the outermost being the epidermis which itself has 5 layers I’d like to know which layer they’re referring to.

Does it really matter?

I want all my layers in place.

It matters quite a lot the difference between an instant minor sunburn and serious nerve and tissue damage...

For example if it’s just removing the Stratum CorneumBroad which is a mere 20 to 30 cell thick isn’t going to be life altering to say the least.

Oh im sure its only when you phase the plasma in a 40 mw range that it becomes instantly lethal. And I fi remember correctly its the very outer layer. UNLESS its turned up to heyond max SAFE wattage.

Yeah they say it is the future so I am sure they know how to make a weapon that melts a person completely...

Having been both shot and had a couple really nasty burns...

I'll take a bullet or even 3 thank you very much!!

I mean, don't get me wrong, getting shot sucks pretty hard even when it just blows through muscle and out the other side. (When it hits bones on the way through the suck goes up to 11)

But compared to the excruciating and years long hell that is any injuries involving a burn ward...

Bullets are far more humane

So when are they going to add the Next Setting that can make a Person Sheit their Pants at a 100 Meters and have a Really Bad Headache ? Non-Lethal ways can be used to Defeat an Opponent without Killing them , no ?
