Can the blind see in their dreams?

I've been dying to know, but I don't suppose anyone is blind on ATS!

If they do, what do they see if they've never seen anything?

God bless them all! (especially blind lepers)

If a person has never had the experience of sight, they how could they truly imagine it acurately if at all?

I would love to find out just for a day.

Although I don't think my eyes would grow back if I cut them out!

The images in dreams are made up of the many things our eyes witness whether they see real life, television, films etc
I don't see how a blind person could formulate 'images' in their dreams, however I guessing they do dream but the images are different to those that are not blind.
We all see but in different ways.

To my knowledge...

When we dream our brain processes all that we've seen, this often means a visual dream where a series of single events happens.

If a person beacme blind during life, visual dreams are possible as the memory of past visuals aren't lost. If a person started out blind visual dreams do not happen for them.......all though based on the sensitivity of their optic nerve, I wonder if any light representations occur.........as to dreams and why.........

Blatant plug...........Click on the link in my signature........

I read an interview with David Blunkett (Tony Blair's Home Secretary) a while ago where he was asked just that same question. He has been blind from birth and explained that he does not see in his dreams.
