Well that's great.. and thanks for the link..

but I asked about how much resolution you can get
with off-the-sheelf telescopes against something
like the International space station.

I guess that I'll just google it.

So as I suspected almost anyone could disprove the breakaway civilization hypothesis
unless you postulate ridiculous cloaking devices. Cloaking devices on that level
and you may as well be postulating unicorns.

Like my aeronautical neighbor likes to say, this pic looks like air porn... anyway by 2012 we had a Galaxy S3 that could shoot in 1080p, and it still took two years for the numbers to drop off? I don’t think new phones are the reason. I feel like something is up, it has to do with the moon, and this is the calm before the storm. My spider senses have been feeling different vibes the last 2 years. Don’t act like there hasn’t been a shift in deep intuitive feelings in the last 3 years, I can’t be the only one feeling this way. Maybe it’s bc life as a human is the easiest it has ever been in history and we all know what happens at peaks of any kind. Either way, I think this is not a coincidence or new tech causing this drop off. It’s too sharp of a drop IMHO.

Was I just mooned?

I recall the discussion about the topic earlier this year around when articles were being released on it-Aug maybe? Overall it does seem to be a combo of different things contributing to less sighting reports. Some gone through on the thread already.

The current MUFON live ufo map page looks pretty sparse.

Op, thanks laid the thread out well.

All UFO reporting has now been taken over by Bigelow, is my recollection. I mean MUFON either is no more, or everything is directed to his company. He's just a bunch of i-got-a-secret so I'm sure he doesn't want them released. He has his own agenda. I could be late to the party and this may be no more, but that's my last memory of it. Believe I read it in a link in the ATS Bigelow/DeLonge thread(s).

'Bout the same time the the collective psyche of the observers started a new obsession regarding "Identity" .
Brexit, MAGA v Bluewave, gender identity, sexual politics etc etc etc....

The Trickster manifests during times of instability. It is not limited to manifesting to just the paranormal. It manifest's 'high strangeness'', and real life lately is pretty much stranger than ever. An extreme identity battle is going on. Opposing forces (ideologies) are struggling but will calm down and be more balanced.

Just saying....

After 70 years of modern ufology what is there to produce, evidence wise, apart from grainy photos and lately cgi videos? Not to mention the bickering amongst the various ufo organizations.

The truth is ufolofy now is a circus of lectures and book selling, modern snake oil sellers

Excellent, you're waking up. Here's a little more from the Condon Report (1968):

We believe that the existing record and the results of the Scientific Study of Unidentified Flying Objects of the University of Colorado, which are presented in detail in subsequent sections of this report, support the conclusions and recommendations which follow.

As indicated by its title, the emphasis of this study has been on attempting to learn from UFO reports anything that could be considered as adding to scientific knowledge. Our general conclusion is that nothing has come from the study of UFOs in the past 21 years that has added to scientific knowledge. Careful consideration of the record as it is available to us leads us to conclude that further extensive study of UFOs probably cannot be justified in the expectation that science will be advanced thereby.

It has been argued that this lack of contribution to science is due to the fact that very little scientific effort has been put on the subject. We do not agree. We feel that the reason that there has been very little scientific study of the subject is that those scientists who are most directly concerned, astronomers, atmospheric physicists, chemists, and psychologists, having had ample opportunity to look into the matter, have individually decided that UFO phenomena do not offer a fruitful field in which to look for major scientific discoveries.
...

And the situation has not changed since 1968. Yet it will continue to fascinate people on websites like ATS...

For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the wholesome* [Or “healthful; beneficial.”] teaching, but according to their own desires, they will surround themselves with teachers to have their ears tickled.* [Or “to tell them what they want to hear.”] 4 They will turn away from listening to the truth and give attention to false stories. (2 Timothy 4:3,4)

There doesn't seem to be any drop-off in posts on this subforum though, no significant drop-off in the 'attention' department. But to really comment on the OP, I'd have to trust those statistics first, which I'm not sure I do. How do you count UFO sightings on a global scale? What counts as a sighting? Just anyone who mentions they've seen something that they couldn't identify? What about those who won't try to get some attention on the internet for their story, those who keep it to themselves, or perhaps only mention it when someone else has brought up the subject? Did they change their criteria as to what to allow to be submitted to their website as a sighting in their statistics around 2014, and perhaps again in 2015, 2016 and 2017 (related subjects: banned social media accounts that can't submit reports anymore perhaps? Better protection against spambots? Better recognition of duplicate reports and market saturation, i.e. more and more people that would want to submit a report have already submitted their report, or perhaps they are no longer counted as an extra report if they submit multiple that are too similar or because someone is only allowed to do 1 report now even if it's for a different occurance of a sighting? A drop in repetitive and habitual submitters of reports because they keep on seeing things they can't identify and the drop because they used to like this website to vent their experiences more than lately? Etc.)? Just so they have something to talk about again?

The statistics in the graph in the OP start at 1990. The linking of commercial networks and enterprises by the early 1990s marked the beginning of the transition to the modern Internet. One may have a look at how they consider reports of UFO sightings on the internet that are not submitted to their website in those statistics (if one can't resist giving attention to this subject, see my signature and text under my accountname).

Or are they actually just reporting on the popularity of their own website (NUFORC), as in reports submitted to their website or associated sites or organizations? And wondering how to fix this marketing fiasco and decline in attention since 2014? Not being able to resist a quick peek and seeing that the first link I see on their website is an "On-Line UFO Report Form" and now assuming those statistics in the OP are exclusively based on their own database of submitted reports to their website, this seems to be the case. In that case those statistics are only reflective of the amount of submitted reports to their website, i.e. the graph represents the popularity of this particular website. Perhaps a lot of people who used to submit their reports on that website (or were inclined to visit and submit a report), or their potential market, has shifted to other sites such as ATS and youtube (and people's own websites). In that case, competition is the main reason for the decline in their popularity (their = NUFORC). And then we don't need to be as "baffled" about it as "everyone investigating within the UFO field," as "the founder and director of NUFORC Peter Davenport said to Business Insider" and thus claims is the case. Which is a rather bold 100%-type of claim, really, everyone? You got some statistics on that too? You personally know what's going on in the minds of "everyone investigating within the UFO field"? Peter Davenport 'The All-Knowing'? The hyperbole is strong in this one. As if this is somehow a big mystery and important or intriguing enough to discuss or waste your time on. Let them sort out their own marketing issues is what I'm thinking now. No need to pretend you've got something interesting to report on for your market of people seeking entertainment, mystery and intrigue rather than truth (that is, truth that actually matters, the "beneficial teaching" earlier mentioned in this comment, the type of truth that people will "turn away from", see examples in the playlist below, or the use of the word "aversion" by the person in the video below that, who also briefly touches on the subject of aliens earlier on).

Like all things, perception and sight are two almost different things. And yet pretty much the same, and yet your perception influences what you see, and you can only see what you know or expect to see. Perception and sight are basically two different things.

It is not only a function of reality and this universe, but also of politicians and sales marketing teams.

If you look for unidentified objects in the sky? Well if you don't know what your looking at or your vision is not that strong, you will find plenty of blurry unknown objects. There is plenty of UFO's. Once you identify them then they will be UFO's no longer.

Now if you looking for life outside and out there in the great wide universe? Well...

What are you looking for green men on mars when the concept is but man made? So ya! UFO and the like. Its a culture thing. A few years ago and even in some parts of the world now, they still believe that invisible beings watch over them, they call them gods, or demons, or what not.

The whole sum of this UFO thing and even the whole some of this Space and universe thing, is like watching a dog not only chasing its own tail, but admiring it now and then in between licking its own ass. I do believe were more at the whole simulation or flesh suit thing now a days then the whole round thing in the sky. So as you can see, UFOs are so 1990s. Just like yo yos were so popular from the 70s to the 80s till better toys came along, well the same can be said of UFOs.

Partially covers what I intended to post and so the question is what should we expect next in this evolutionary process ?

What is now at the limits or, if the phenomenon is self generated and always been a factor, if it has now gone dormant / stopped, we must have reached a watershed. Why - AI, anti-aging breakthrough, human machine hybrids, FTL or inter-dimensional travel breakthrough ?

Be almost dissapointing if there is a new wave of traditional UFO reports.

In 2016, one of Hillary's last ditch efforts was telling people that if she wins, she'll release all the secrets the government has been holding back about UFOs and space aliens. Then I read on here that after seeing more and more sightings, the government was starting to let it fly because aliens were planning on revealing themselves in 2019, or something to that effect.

Well, my signature could be of help there...

Here are some examples of drones flying at night, which many people misidentify as UFOs:

the 3rd video is not a drone but an incoming plane.

The video looks like one of that crazy women's videos that had a youtube channel called seeing UFOs in Pennsylvania or something there abouts where she would capture many planes approaching which could trick those that dont think critically and just accept whats said by the narrator, some she didn't move the camera away at the right time and you clearly see they are planes.

Her videos were brought to ATS a few years back, whats more worrying is that some think they were not identifiable and believed what the videos were pushing.

Awesome OP! Wanted to comment so I can use this for reference in the future. Thanks for the hard work you put into this!

As for my belief as to why reports are down...
As said already in the comments, while technology helps to identify objects that could be easily mistaken for a UFO, it's probably keeping many people from looking up. I'd say that a majority of people spend the better part of their day with their heads down. It also keeps people inside. Whether it's Netflix or 272 channels on cable and every show On Demand or DVR'd. Or playing video games or reading on a Kindle. It seems that reliance on electronic devices for every bit of entertainment is now the norm. People don't sit outside on a summer evening and look at the stars anymore. They don't make make a fire in the pit and roast marshmallows in the fall anymore and dream about what it all means while looking at the beauty that is above us. If nobody is looking up anymore, if fewer people spend time outside at night, probabilities of a sighting drop significantly. It's really pretty sad and disappointing.

That Dr Eric Oullet is an interesting chap...

Dr Ouellet’s current research covers historical case studies on counterinsurgency and military institutional adaptation, the institutional challenges of meta-organizational collaboration in the context of domestic national crisis, the integration of psycho-social models and methods into NATO’s effect-based approach to operations, political-military strategic wargaming for irregular warfare, and sociological modeling of radicalization processes.

www.cfc.forces.gc.ca...

No mention of his parapsychological interests on his day-job website, understandably, but his blog is interesting and he is not at all tight in setting forth his ideas on there rather than just dangling carrots and plugging the book.

parasociology.blogspot.com...

Cheers for the heads up, I wasn't aware of him at all. I may even buy his book and his one on Military Sociology (which is more my usual fayre) if I can find it at a knock down price.

Either the aliens have got better tech and we cant see them at all anymore
or they stopped visiting , or our tech got better at detecting them

either way , I thought it was just because trump is on everyones mind now , and so there is no room for the alien thoughts to manifest in our heads any more!

I just finished his book, and spoke to the author some as well.

It's a good book. Makes you think.

The only thing I don't like is that Eric uses the phrase "Morphic
Resonance" from Sheldrake, which gives his book a 'black eye'.

But he just uses it as metaphor.. and then only in the second
half of the book.

I consider the book definitely worth purchasing, if one has an
open mind, and actually wants a good clue as to what is
happening..

His model maps to mine fairly well.. so I suppose it's not
surprising that I liked the book.
