Thiessen is a longtime GOP establishment operative, going back to his lobbying days with BMSK. He writes a twice-weekly column for WaPo and it's always pro-Trump.

Regardless of political ideology this time around, he's not wrong.

Trump is decently honest compared to politicians. His honesty does get him in trouble though. We do hear his real beliefs, he does not say things to gain support that he does not really believe in. Most politicians tend to tell people what they want to hear, Trump is self centered a tad bit, he says what he thinks and that is that. He may parrot what his advisors tell him to say sometimes, but later when challenged he does state what he thinks.

A person who states what he/she thinks is true should not be a politician. They are supposed to act, to tell us what we want to hear. So Trump makes a lousy politician I guess, but he is a decent president for a change. Trump and politically correct should not be in the same paragraph let alone sentence.

So these days you’re honest if you tell the truth about how you lie.

How far we have fallen.

Context matters. He tells the truth to the American people when it comes to what he will do as President.

We do hear his real beliefs

He certainly doesn't filter anything for PC, appropriateness, or politeness. So I imagine what you see is what you get. He's his own worst enemy. Very disappointing, to me, anyway. And yet, on the actual mechanics and tangibles he seems to be doing a bang-up job.

For the same reason you wouldn't expect a Right leaning newscaster on CNN showering Trump with praise. I certainly didn't expect The Washington Post to publish this, but maybe even the higher ups couldn't dispute the facts. Either way, it's a win for Trump, who will most likely use it in a future tweet, if he hasn't already.

How are keeping campaign promises lying? Let’s see the previous president touted generic platitudes of “Hope and Change” and “Most transparent administration ever”. Neither of which delivered.

Actually I agree (yeah, that's strange for me) with a lot of people on the thread, personally I think the whole system we live in is a bunch of crap, it's bad for people, bad for the planet, and is only beneficial to those with the most wealth. And at the end of the day, politicians are only there to maintain this bullsh*t system while making a lot of money for themselves along the way.

Even if there was honest politicians, in the grand scheme of things it's meaningless anyway, because they probably wouldn't last long if they tried to enforce their honesty through change, JFK?

Being president in this system fits in nicely with a suit on a power trip, that's Donald Trump

Right after your rant about media bias you listed the USA article without a link.

Likely because it was an opinion piece by an unabashed Trump cheerleader.

your OP is Trumpite jerk-off porn.

Nope...it's a Liberal "trigger" piece, designed to get delusional Liberals like you whining and angry, from reading up on the truth. So, tell me exactly why those "opinion" pieces, published in those Liberal rags, are wrong. I'm not a big fan of Trump, but I voted for him because Hillary is an egocentric, evil, untrustworthy career politician. If you can take your blinders off, you'll see that Trump is delivering on his campaign promises...on top of calling out that POS San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz, for being totally corrupt after blaming him for not doing enough for Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria.
Hey, you have a good day and thanks so much for jerking off to my Trumpite porn!

It's called the "laundry list" debate tactic.

Cut and paste a tonnage of crap, each item bending the truth and ignoring compelxities and then demand someone disprove the entire list.

Pick something specific and we can discuss it, otherwise pound sand.

He asked you which in the "laundry list" was untrue. Now you demand he pick one? Do you think you're fooling anyone?
