So both claims.. supercivilization and super secret society.. both
nothing to get too excited about..due to a lack of any evidence

Well, maybe the evidence is there, but it hasn't been properly interpreted. In ancient site after ancient site, there is a fairly consistent finding of less sophisticated construction the higher you go up from the original bases. Sloppy repair or rebuilding on older sites. For the sake of expediency, most people simply accept the dates originally estimated by people who assumed the last culture inhabiting the sites were responsible for all of it, all the way down. If you don't think the history extended back farther, then you won't look for it. Kind of like the whole Clovis thing. You don't know what you might find if you dig deeper.

As for the secret societies, well... they're secret. You wouldn't expect to find too much evidence of them. And as I've said before, I don't think the remnants of the old, old advanced society did a great job. They mostly failed to give us much of a headstart after the last catastrophe, maybe because their numbers got too small and their messages (couched in the form of mythology) got too corrupted. And that would make it even harder.

I suppose the trick would be to look for these fragments of evidence and see if they fit within that narrative. Trying to avoid confirmation bias, of course.

For what it's worth, I have nothing against there having been
a 12,000 year-old society that knew a few tricks... I just
don't go for the ancient AI type of psychological operation
type stuff, that has cleverly been inserted into a number of
modern narratives, despite having no basis in reality,
sonic 'tech' to build pyramids and other easily disproven

I'm quite cool with the notion that they might have had
advanced stone working capabilities.. perhaps even iron-age
metal working capabilities.. and sure.. then had a big setback.

It's one of those subjects though, where people find the evidence
they are looking for, whether it exists or not.. or there is enough
gray zone.. wiggle room in some people's minds at least.. it's
a subject very much like UFOlogy.

As for secret society stuff.. I've got some knowledge going back 7000
years.. but that's as far back as I know.

Always fun to discuss possibilities of course.
