The guy from Good Times is alive?!!! wtf????

It was after mid 1980s and before 1990 when he died! I thought it was sad because I liked the dumb Disney movie The World's Greatest Athlete. I was in college during that time period. I had to explain what Good Times was to my friend.

I don't remember him in Die Hard 2. Weird!

Welcome back!

For me: Mr. Roger's is THE; Berenstein Bears; Pete Townsend; Mother Theresa (search for her death here on ATS and you will see it spelled both ways). Dilemna seems right but spell check says no. And yes, "You knocked my block off" is what I remember too.

I freaked out when before my eyes on lyrics.wikia.com, Pete Townsend changed to Pete Townshend! I literally went back to the album Empty Glass song listings when it changed. Everywhere I look, that is how it is spelled. To me, there is no use trying to explain or convince people so why bother? But it sure is freaky when it happens in front of your eyes!

I have to chalk up the Mandela Effect to faulty memory, misreadings, and mishearings. I've recently been talking about the Dylatov Pass incident, and only after reading more about it did I realize it's actually Dyatlov Pass. I felt like a real smacked ass saying Dylatov all these years.

Also a problem with ME is if true, there are plenty of cases of something people didn't really pay attention to, getting treated like an ME. Depend / Depends for example. Who really pays attention to a brand of adult diaper? And you hear it as a 40th or 50th b-day joke.. let's get Depends! And so.. people assume it has changed. And the list of ME events grows, but is unreliable.

Sort of how UFOs are flooded with hoaxes and blurry light dots, so it waters down the entire field, and makes it much more difficult to make a case for it.

There should be two lists of MEs - one where there is residual proof of a change, and many people remembering it differently, and another of the ones that only a few remember otherwise or there is no other proof.

It seems like people who encounter ME remember many of the ME events one way, while others remember all of the same events in a different (i.e. current) way. It would be great to sort those and figure out if the bulk remembers one way.. or if it's a scattering of remembered events. Did one event change a single timeline for a bunch of people? Or has it happened multiple times, and now different people seem to remember stuff many different ways? To me, it seems like it happened only one time. And a mass of people all remember real ME events one way, while others remember NONE of them that way.

The "not actually an ME" events probably muddle that further.

Interesting

Universe As is it wasn't mysterious enough, the Mandela Effect's similarity to the word Mandala is also seen by many as significant. This is because the word is a Sanskrit term meaning "circle", and it's symbol represents the universe.

Taken literally, the "Manda" is a palace, the "La" is the center and taken together it describes the abode of the deity. In Hinduism and Buddhism it features as a spiritual symbol used in certain rituals. Whilst described generally as a repeating, petal like structure similar to a flower, like a snowflake each individual instance can take a unique form.

Sometimes the center of a Mandala actually shows a palace, which has 4 doorways pointing towards the four corners of the earth. It is protected by several inner circles, each of which symbolise a particular quality such as love, wisdom, devotion or purity for example. There can be other symbols at the heart of the Mandala too, including a lightning bolt for the male and a bell for the female.

What bothers me is that when I present this explanation about imperfect human memory, imperfect human perception -- and/or the related explanation that incorrect infomation can get so entrenched into poular culture that they become "pseudo-facts" -- some people get so insulted by that possible explanbation and shout things back at me such as "don't call me stupid! I know what I remember!!"

For me it is because in some cases it is such a ridiculous idea.
For instance a whole Family of 7 playing Monopoly all winter long every year for years and nothing more to do living in the backcountry and snowed in. ALL remember the box clearly having fought over its use to hold and become banker day after day, months every year. They ALL have the same wrong memory of the bankers monocle?

That is just one of the examples of my own but I have read others that also show how extreme it would be to conclude bad memory of such. Have you spent any time reading people's experiences?

With ya brotha... that new Townshend spelling looks WRONG ... weird that you actually saw it change and I know how it used to be!

I cannot help but suspect scary high tech and perhaps some high echelon lab changing worlds as some disaster was imminent, or something, or at the least consciousness tech beaming alternate memories into our collective noggins as a test; but with reality fluxing and not being able to trust our memories, where to start?

The idea that the alternate/added/missing letters act as markers to dimension/time travelers was interesting, but the changes don't seem to follow a discernible pattern ... if they even exist in what passes for our shared universe, that is.

It's not easy to figure out, let alone even be sure it's actually occurring... though the aforementioned instances, Townsend and even comedian Louie Anderson not dying in the 90's sorta sealed it for me.

Sigh.

I don't think it's the Mandela effect at all. I think the Elites are just f'ing with our heads. If a country is confused, any Government or system can be installed. I think that the texts online are being Manipulated and the Video and Audio files uploaded by people, have probably been remastered using video and audio technology that can infuse into the original material. They can even now have people on video saying things that they didn't say, but you could never tell. It's just another way to confuse people, so Socialism will be possible.

So that's two sunglasses ME's heh... I'd lean towards confabulation with Risky Business as he wears sunglasses in later scenes and the movie poster had him in sunglasses and so memory short-hand would have him wearing them during the dance and media referencing the movie would use that, too.

Maybe the Raisin Bran sun is similar in that a sun should wear sunglasses? Though I don't really buy that and can even remember thinking the sun was wearing Ray Bans, specifically.

My friend (now wrongly) remembers, as I do, that actor Richard Chamberlain died of AIDS after Rock Hudson and before Magic Johnson announced he had it, in the 90's, along with the fat comic Louie Anderson dying in the late 90's, but ( yo, TEOTWAWKI!) he swears the Who's guitarist and primary song writer was always spelt with an "H" and that he had specific memories of looking it up and being surprised it was so... though maybe he looked it up after the "switch," heh.

I have specific memories without the "H" ... soooo ???? Heh. If you saw it change, then (makes an exploding gesture around head) .

Heck, we don't have a handle on existence, itself... so no wonder we're flailing around!

Maybe entropy has vanquished order and we're seeing the first signs... or we've been sucked into a black hole and are approaching singularity... or fairy wizards from dimension X are gas-lighting us for burning their imaginary toast!

*stomps off muttering to himself- but relieved that others are going insane as well*

How do we ot I explain to myself the change in the game Monopoly which all of my Family individually told me I remember correctly? Did they change the histories of the game and all pictures, old games sold used and all references?

I am still open to all possibilities at this point. I watched the movie The Forgotten (2004) again the other night, sure makes you think.

ALIVE STILL! No I remember when he died of aids and I had a long conversation with a Friend about it at the time! About his parts as a lover to Women and how Women always swooned over him and the whole time he was gay.
Born: March 31, 1934 (age 84 years), Beverly Hills, CA
Height: 6′ 1″

Ok well how do we explain these kinds of things!!
Watch The Forgotten maybe someone can really change things.

I think that is a very astute assessment. I’ve noticed that it does tend to be an “all or nothing” thing.

Now I’m going to put my imaginative tin foil hat on... I want to throw out that disclaimer that what I’m about to offer is a purely and highly speculative idea so I don’t send the non-effected into a tailspin...

But sometimes I like to just let my mind drift to every possible (even if not remotely probable) scenario and this is one...

Perhaps the brain is “AI” to an extent in that it’s capable of something we don’t understand such as shifting its conscious awareness to another timeline (relying or falling back on the multiverse theory) so that if something happens your consciousness could literally “quantum leap.” So what if something so BAF happened - some kind of mass casualty - that it caused those who feel “effected” to jump from where they were to “here” — where everything is just slightly different. Kind of like in the show Sliders. In fact, in that show, some of the universes they end up in are so similar to their own that they think they are “back” until they’ll encounter someone alive who was dead in their original timeline or vice versa. Or they’ll hear a song with different lyrics. It (the show Sliders) really is very similar to the whole ME thing, come to think about it.

I visited an amusement park built in the early 70's. A small one. They had a Snow White section and a display which was one of the first parts of the park built says 'Mirror, Mirror on the wall'. I always heard it that way. It's referenced in numerous books and movies and songs to this day. Even in the recent Huntsman Snow White film from 2012 she says Mirror Mirror. Now there are youtube clips of the Disney movie saying magic mirror but I never heard magic mirror until this Mandela thing.

I watched Mr Rogers every day as a kid and could sing the song backwards and forwards and it was always THE neighborhood.

I dug through my childhood books when visiting my elderly parents and sure enough, my books said Berenstein.
Before I looked at the books a few years ago when I first heard about this business, I called my mother up who was
a elementary school teacher her whole life and asked what those bear books were. She said Berenstein. I said how do you spell it? She spelled it Berenstien. My spouse learned one of the fundamental lessons of English, with Berenstein as an example. It had been an integral part of her English learning experience she had never forgotten. She can't believe it's supposed to be Berenstain now. It contradicts the fundamentals of her linguistic education.

I have very near eidetic memory. It was a beautiful day in THE neighborhood. I watched it faithfully every day. I BerenSTEIN bears were my favorite childrens books series to read, too. But that one I can be convinced I have wrong because of the way my parents may have read it to me before I could read. That can't be said for the mr rogers song. I heard him sing it every day for years.

As for occams razor: is it more likely timelines have merged or millions of people remembered wrong, but the same things wrong? I can't say for certain one of those things is more likely than the other.

I'm a pretty big skeptic of these types of things but there are too many people who have the same wrong memories for me to write it off as obviously just coincidence.

The "mirror mirror on the wall, who is the fairest one of all" gets me.

Magic mirror?

All Mandela effects are so easily debunked with such a simple explanation if u just think a minute. Snow White for example came out in theaters in the 50s then another theatrical release in the 80s with a limited engagement around 1970. What that means is if you saw it in the theaters eavh chance u had, you saw it once as a kid and possibly twice as an adult given how old we are in 2018. But most saw it once, q minority twice. That's it. It didn't come out on video till Disney started its opening the vault one movie on VHS a year. Snow White wasn't watchable online obviously and it was the 90s before available at home.

So what do you think, that the snow white you heard a hundred times growing up was the Disney version or the Grimm version? I would guarantee each and evwry one of us would have heard the Grimm a hundred times. Not gone to the movies in 1950 or 1970 a hundred times. And what do you know, Grimm's version says mirror mirror. Magic mirror in the Disney movie you may have seen once, twice max until just twenty years ago. So your predominate memory of the story was formed by that one. You didn't have many if any life long memories of the lines of the story shaped by Disney other than the famous sound bites "giggle why hello my prince," and the songs "hi ho, someday my prince, whistle while u work, I'm wishing, etc."

You would freak out just as easily if I said if you look at snow white, the dwarves pack off to work in the morning singing the song, "chickadee China the Chinese chicken, you have a drumstick and your brain stops tickin," and this was what the Grimm had written because THAT particular part of the snow white story in your mind was shaped by Disney's hi ho.

Are quite correct

And I would like to announce that I stand on my common response to Austrailia........looks like the land down under.........
Is about BELT HIGH NOW

I would take one by one if I could and show how easily you can debunk but no time now. But Australia new Zealand thing is the easiest.

We all grew up on a map which was just recently decided to be non politically correct but more importantly, dramatically warped in many ways. The Mercator map. Any kid born through 1996 or so probably even remembers seeing the name on a textbook map or globe.

So the nation as a whole decided to switch the maps used in all public schools and government institutions to a more accurate one

So all maps you see now are extremely different and have countries changing size and location all over while Mercator has been all but wiped out entirely.
