Shop online right? Sears goes bust so we just go online. But not everyone in fact probably not even a really good majority has a computer to just change their shopping habits and go online. Is this some sort of great miscalculation? where sure a great deal go online. But another great per cent age . just wont bother getting the product .Think the aging population a lot don't even like cell phones let alone computers.

I’m in northern Ontario.
Our Sears closed down a year or so back.

I think the aging population were the only people shopping at Sears for a long time.

They'll just shop at other stores.

They could still restructure and re-enter the Market on todays terms but they would have to re-direct their entire Superstructure...they could hit a few really big and growing niche markets HARD and across a great demographic...there is A LOT OF VALUE THERE....massive turnaround is possible keeping and completely renewing and re-growing the domestic loyalty brand they built over so many decades...keeping the same business principals updated to compete in todays marketplace.Trust is a commodity you cannot buy but you have to grow....like I said a lot of value there.

They were excellently positioned to be the new Amazon back when the internet was young and online shopping was just a new thing, but they refused to see the writing on the wall and felt like their catalogs would always be the big thing.

It was probably the decision that ended up killing them.

Sears has the strongest loyalty and Trust connection to the Boomer demographic you will ever find and these are the ones with all the money ....this also happens to be the hardest group to bring online to do business......so why not marry the two.....Sears online or In-Store pick-up but no massive retail spaces in the millions of square feet just smaller sized Boutique style outlets where people can come and shop then purchase then have their item delivered or available for In-Store pickup within 24 hours..a safe place for them to pick up their packages ...convert the biggest stores to warehouse style assets just like Amazon....and defend the Brand like crazy with highest quality standards combined with highest Hands-On Customer service.
