One other thing to consider, when it comes to stopping what is a naturally occurring change... unintended consequences.

Lets for the sake of argument say man made climate change is fixed... or just a minor part, and some smart people think we should force mother nature to stay within our preferred parameters.

Like the brilliant people that want to drill into the caldera out west for geo thermal, or the other smart folks that want to drill into the caldera in italy to relieve pressure.

How do we prevent the harsh side effeccts if their is an oopsie while we try to force mother nature to bend to our will?

If they really want to try terraforming, I think the best way would be to attempt it on another planet in the solar system first. That way we can learn from our mistakes instead of wiping out the only working planet we have. Of course, that means we have to actually establish working bases on those planets first ...
