Good thread. Here's the issue.

People are sort of agreeing with it but like this...

Republicans are bad, but Democrats are worse.

Or

Democrats are bad but Republicans are worse.

Those two arguments are wrong. When we can agree that both are equally bad, then we can move forward. It's like saying Jeffry Dahmer was worse than Ted Bundy, because Ten Bundy didn't eat his victims. Or Hitler was worse than Pol Pot because he killed more people. Or Death by hanging is worse than Death by electrocution.

Both parties are paid by lobbyists to promote certain corporations and industries. Both Parties spend about 70% of their time and effort on getting re elected instead of governing. Both Parties spend the other 30% of their time insulting the other party.

You guys buy into it because your favorite news anchor/talking head/media personality tells you to.

Even on that you'll say...well yeah Rush Limbaugh sucks but he's better than Rachel Maddow. You're still missing the point that you're getting brainwashed/indoctrinated and you're being told how to think, instead of thinking for yourselves.

Remember a true American, a real patriot only has one team....being American. If you're a proud Republican or Democrat, your actually putting America 2nd, not first and playing a game that your favorite tv/radio personality is telling you to play.

MANA came to me a couple of weeks ago. This goes beyond "he's not my president" which has been prevalent for decades. It's the attitude that the country should be driven by only your party/ideology. I've seen people say that only their party should have the ability to run the country. Those of the opposing party are "less" than they are themselves.

The Kavannaugh episode has brought this more to the front. I'm sure people have thought this before but now it's being brought out in the open. People actually stating that Americans should have no say in the process. America should be THEIR vision of America. It's getting scary. The energy and effort put into attempting to keep the other side down is amazing.

With this latest SCOTUS appointment one side was, "Damn the torpedoes, git er done". Once confirmed I've actually heard, "That's OK. They'll be eaten with the rest of them." There's no movement by either to see any common ground. Social media is excellent at whipping people up. You can read this stuff anywhere. Even here.

Forgotten is the fact that you are ALL Americans. All in the same boat. Right now the boat is sinking and it looks like some don't care as long as they are happy that they can have the country going in the direction they want. Selfishness and self interest is the norm. The days of "Ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country" are a distant memory. Caring for the country no longer exists with many. They want THEIR country. Nothing else.

This is going to have to end soon before things go too far and make it SO difficult to remove the disparity of the people. Remember that a divided house falls. It's time to stop thinking of one's self and focus more on the country AS A WHOLE. If one can't see that you're part of the problem. It's time for a change. This isn't working.

“Elections have consequences, and at the end of the day, I won.” – President Obama to House Republican Whip Eric Cantor, January 23, 2009.

2 SCOTUS appointments
Tax cut
Regulatory relief
Securing the borders

Following through with election promises is now an issue? He got the potus and house and senate for a reason.

Ding ding ding!

Obama was bashed on FOX (mainstream) all the time. Many late night shows and snl are liberal. It's Hollywood/entertainment, what do u expect? And trump is an easy target for humor/jokes.

He's an easier target for success stories and living up to a majority of promises you made when you ran, also, but that's never mentioned. Not that it really matters, ratings speak volumes.

Your line of thinking is why normal America has bailed on the left.

I agree. People want to be coddled and feel safe more than anything else. The reality of which I speak isn’t safe and isn’t going to make you feel good. I can understand why people would bail on it.

They're not getting worked up just on the media and the internet. Factions of the Left are literally terrorizing American citizens. This provocation will not end well, regardless of one's political ideology. Check out the clip below. A Liberal mayor told the police to stand down. See what happens? Chaos caused by a Liberal mayor, who, like many on the left, turn a blind eye to mob rule. Prove me wrong.

Since I don't have their data or methodology I can't.

If the Center for American Progress released a study saying similar things about Obama would you take it at face value since you couldn't prove it wrong?

No, but I watch the news every evening so I see it/saw it firsthand.

The republicans have not done anything special to take the house senate and presidency, it was democrats with bad ideas that kept ignoring important states in favor of hob nobbing with celebrities, couple that with pushing ideas that resonate badly with regular folks on the street outside the liberal city/college areas and its a recipe for political disaster.

I agree
2016 was anyone but hillary and dont give her the house or senate

I want the Democratic party I grew up watching to come back, but until the current crop of old white people running it retire/die I do not see them improving themselves at all.

I also agree.
I hold out hope that trump can make this happen.
They have got to eventually get tired of losing elections.

It definitely won't happen anytime soon. They can't let go of identity politics. When they hit the bottom, they double down. Now they hate old white men.

Great job, dems, keep alienating yourselves!

Now you're just repeating a stereotype that's not quite true, just like when some liberal idiot gets on here and says conservatives hate women and minorities.

Kumbaya is dead my friend...there is no common ground...

The divide will only widen from here on out...

We seem to be past a point of no return. While we can all argue who started what first, who bashed who by how much, and other related items, there are several materially different things that have happened in this cycle.

1) The legitimacy of the executive, legislative and judiciary branches are now under full frontal assault, not just by commentators or bloggers or keyboard warriors, but by political leadership, educational institutions and most national media. We have never seen such a thing since the last civil war. Period.

2) We are no longer a nation where we disagree solely on the issues (agreeing to disagree). Now both sides demonize large segments of the American populous. The conflict is now cast almost universally as good vs. evil. The goal of changing hearts and minds has been replaced by an objective to suppress all opposition because it is a moral imperative-- again, arguments now routinely made by political leadership, educational institutions and the vast majority of the media.

3) And finally, being white, male, straight, or old, now carry widely accepted presumptions that something is inherently wrong with those attributes. Arguments about 'white privilege' or the 'patriarchy' are no longer cast in terms of systemic inequities, but rather intrinsic defect by the mere existence of any of those classes. And once again, all of this is routinely pushed political leadership, educational institutions and the MSM.

I'm afraid this will be settled on the battlefield...

I think long before that, what is likely to happen will be a widespread effort by the States to challenge federal authority. If you think that isn't likely, look at a political map of governorships and state legislators, and get back to me.

We already see those calls in several states. How long before the political escalations mature into meaningful action by the States to ignore all federal supremacy or to leave the Union altogether?

I'd imagine that if a 'civil war' were to materialize, it will be preceded by federal and state conflict...think armed standoffs between local and national law enforcement.

Whatever happens from here on out, one thing is clear, we are descending into the abyss. All of the firewalls are gone. No rational, measured or balanced MSM. No rational, measured or balanced political leadership. No rational, measured or balanced educational institutions. No rational, measured or balanced cultural mores.

God help us all.

Let's just say that 50 years of socialist programs have not done much good and are starting to fail things.

I nearly chocked on my crisps - chips to you defilers of the English language - when I read this.

With all due respect you don't really have a clue what 'socialist programs' are.
Nothing remotely like a socialist policy has been implemented since before the war.

Just thought I'd throw that in to the mix....I'll go back to reading now, sorry about the intrusion.

Keep choking I guess. Suppose you are a capital S socialist. You seem to forget that your leaders have been trying to change the definition to include any and all public works.

Basically the kids these days think that if 2 people put their money together to buy lunch then that is socialism.

Ummm...well...TBH...I hope I'm wrong as well...

All the indices are unfortunately leading to conclusions that support my statements...

Your best outlook for survival is not in bunker mentality...but in networking...friendships...and strength of community...along with having all the requisite tools...arable land and the means to protect the above...

As far as the internet...if it goes down then small networks will take it's place...nodes...that will then join with other nodes...perhaps regionally until something on a more universal scale reemerges...

The boat isn't sinking, though. The country is thriving economically, diplomatically, and policy wise. That's the problem, Trep, this broken America that the left sees isn't reality. Why should the ramblings of people suffering from political Munchauson by Proxy hold any weight on things?

A long time ago, my brother in law told me he used to keep $200 on hand at all times. This was to bail him out of jail for assault in case he ever got in a fight defending himself or anything like that. Taking that advice, I now TRY to keep at least $1,000 in my savings in case I ever come across people like this because as sure as I sit here typing, if they block my way and then hit my beautiful truck that I treat like a newborn baby, I most definitely will NOT hesitate to knock one or more of those idiots out of my way as I push through with 395 horsepower and 411 lb ft of torque one light foot stomp away, and I'll need the money to be bailed out. That's IF I went to jail, and I don't think I'll see those retards stamping their pajama clad feet anywhere near the part of the country I live in.

Did you listen to the elected DNC Senators? All they talked about was white male privilege and old white men being the issue during the Kavanaugh hearings. One old white billionaire is now talking about starting an organization against old rich white men. I don't repeat stereotypes, my friend, I report what I see in prime time news.

And most people know that on some base level, even if though they won’t let themselves consciously think in that direction because of their politics.
