Firstly, thank you for having this conversation as a gent, without saying that we will see that at the final count, or other silly things, as my very last debate about religion ended. I guess that person ran out of logical replies...

I am not taking part in any organized religion as I've always thought that is for control only. However I do have my beliefs. If I understand correctly, both God's and Devil's ultimate power is to create/take lives, help or hurt others etc... The end of the day every single human being can do those things. I can take or create lives, help or hurt others and so can you. Every single one of us gods, devils and the in between. It all comes down to individual choice...

And ultimately this is my problem with the Pope asking for prayers to a higher power, nicely put responsibilities aside, explaining these rotten humans with something entirely different...

Purgatory, perdition, hell and finally the lake of fire.

None of these are nice places, purgatory is were soul's are prepared for heaven but not a holiday destination of you catch my meaning, there was a pope whom officially closed it, remember the old prayer.

But did not Jesus say do not repeat word's like the Heathen's instead say this prayer for your father in heaven know's what you need.

Our father which art in heaven hallowed by thy name
Thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespass as we forgive those whom trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from (The) evil (one).

Jesus was not so big on people having to recite repetitious prayers but we know that from a psychological point of view they can be beneficial - BUT - they can also harm the faith of some individual's as can the idea of this pope that we can not have a personal relationship with god - which he is actually wrong about since to walk with God is a long tested form of Devotion.

But back to Hell, it is to the lake of fire what Purgatory was or still is to Heaven, there is even a description from the book of revelation about it walking into the lake of fire so does that mean all the soul's within it are going to march to a worse place? or rather as one old lady whom had a vision in which Christ showed her hell that Hell itself is a doomed being, a huge one perhaps the very enemy of God that planted it's tares upon the earth among God's flock, a defeated titan that would make the Devil look small and upon that day it shall walk into the lake of fire along with all of those evil souls the lord see's as being tares and therefore rightly part of this evil enemy which he defeated (Well it never really stood a chance against the lord and it's fall therefore predated that of the Devil?).

Of course we could get into theological debates on this matter and spend eternity because to be fair I really would rather not know what Hell is.

(just to explain my reasoning, if our soul is the breath of life from God which he blew into his creation then what are the tares among the wheat - we being the wheat if not the breath of his enemy, so if they go to hell perhaps they are actually being thrown back into the enemy of God now defeated and awaiting it's final and endless end).

Yes God is our real father, the devil is our enemy but some may be either his creatures or perhaps creatures of another evil entity that was defeated long ago and sealed away like the fallen watchers below the earth.

All religion's once they gain more than one believer are organized, the problem with the catholic church is that it has long forgotten the importance of the small.

Small christian mission's are often more effective at saving a soul than all the vanity job's of cathedrals and bent priests in silk robes.

To be fair that is the old church, these day's you would probably not even realize that the old gentleman standing in front of you in the cue down at Sainsbury's or were ever you shop was actually a monk or a priest.

The Church is facing another crisis which may lead to it's downfall though, it's priesthood is aging and there are too few believers in modern age, indeed most kid's and adult's would rather do what we are doing and hammer a keyboard than perform ceremony's (which Jesus was not that keen on actually unless they are performed with a contrite and truly repentant heart).

His Popeship is a mere human and is Satan's worker. Vatican is Satan's lair and is protected by this veneer of religiousness. The 'praying to God' and religious statues and all the other Pope and God ceremonies are all the big deceit.

Don't pray to a statue. It is not real. It does not hear you. It has no power to help.

Pray to the God-Light that is within you - He is there and He hears and feels your prayers.

Pope enables the lies of the Deceiver.

Bad evil soul-less ones masquerading as God-fearing followers.

Why is it surprising to you that a Christian would believe in the devil?

Just because he thinks the Devil is influencing people to do evil doesnt mean he believes those people shouldnt be held personally responsible for their actions.

In not a Christian anymore but my Dad still is more than ever. Do you think I would ever laugh at his beliefs or make fun of him for them? Hell no.

I think some of you need to learn a little respect.

I have to admit when I saw your name pop up in here I was a little afraid to read your post (I know ignorant on my part to judge by your Ava (and btw never held against you and have never had any problems with you quite the contrary I enjoy seeing your input)) that being said great outlook on it. I can’t stand people that despariage the beliefs of others simply because you hold different ideals. My grandfather is dyed in the wool Church of Christ and despite us believing in the same god and as sad as it is he has told me and my mom that we’re going to hell because we don’t subscribe to his brand of Christianity and he brings it up and tries to force his way down our throats much more than I’d like to admit. We’ve even humored him and gone to several of his services yet every time he was supposed to do the same for us he’s always found a way to get out of it. It’s a sad state when denomination causes friction in your own close family.

Im not looking for some religious argument I m not much of a believer myself but I know the church is the backbone of the bible and therefore according to the tales is a construct of god not the devil.

I'm kind of wondering if he ain't claiming it was the devil's dirty deeds that revealed the dirty secret of the abuse to the light of day, leading those victims astray by convincing them to speak up and talk about what had happened.

You seem surprised that the Pope would say that satan is real. I was born and raised Catholic and went to Catholic school. Satan is very real to the Catholic religion and always has been. Many Catholic prayers are for the purpose of defying the power of satan. Angels are also very real in the Catholic religion.

From inside the mind of a catholic this does make sense. The devil seduces people to do evil. It's still the people doing the evil.
Archangel's job is to protect. I know you just want to take a pee but it makes you and basically everybody who commented here come across as obviously not willing to see it from the proper perspective.
