See? You had to go there.

Can't just say, "Yay. He accidently found 'Murica".

Oh no!

Have to go the hatey route!

I think ALL state capitals should get their own national holiday.

You're right.

Christopher is the capital of Utah!

Actually, "U" is the capital of Utah. Sorry for the mistake.

Personally, I don't believe the Christopher Columbus story.

I think he was a mythical character.

There's no proof anywhere he was even born.

Just old BS papers written by fiction novelists for the benefit of greedy political failures.

"They" got here before 1492.

😯

Ooohh, I miss watching the balloon festival in Albuquerque. Makes me really wanna go back home.

As to the OP, it's being dropped as a holiday in places, or had already been dropped. I don't know how to feel about it honestly. Before long, any reference to anything negative in history will be glossed over and not taught in schools at all. Not sure I like that and where it could lead.

Remember the little strips of paper across public toilet seats that said, "This has been sanitized for your protection"?

They're going to be putting them around history books next.

It should be dropped as a holiday.
That being said, I did have today off but I will be buried with work tomorrow because of it.
