I'm only on my first cup of coffee, but I slept late and I was sleeping like a baby which doesn't happen too often.

Hoping to get things done around the house today and color my hair. Yea...hoping. LOL

Hello to everyone who was here earlier and will be arriving!

It has been such a treat when I get out of the house to see the trees in their Autumn splendor. The cool winds are much welcomed after our brutal summer. It's time for sweaters and boots and snuggling under soft blankets, hearty hot meals, hot chocolate or herbal teas and...soon Halloween and spooky movies.

Well, I'm now in hospital. They've been great here and really look after us well. Yes, "Us" -- Dada is here as well!

It's my own recipe (from inside my head!!)

Do you guys have "Stock Cubes"?

I usually use:

1x Ham Stock Cube
1x Chicken Stock Cube
1x small finely chopped onion.
1x large carrot diced
1x large carrot grated
2x parsnips diced
1x large potato diced
A large handful of lentils
A small handful of Pearl Barley
A large sprig of fresh chopped parsley (or large shake of dried parsley)
Some Black pepper to taste.

Bring some water to the boil. (About 1 - 1.5 pints?)
Add the stock cubes, lentils, barley, onion and diced veg & stir.
Add the grated veg and parsley & stir.
Leave to simmer for at least one hour stirring occasionally.
Taste & season accordingly.

HANDY HINT:
I then take two cups (or large ladles) of soup from the pot and blitz them with a blender, then return the blended soup to the main pot. (This gives the soup a lovely creamy consistency, without losing the bite of the diced veg!)

Serve with warm buttered crusty bread.
Enjoy.

Sounds great Gordi. I used to make various soups in the colder months, but with sodium being so high and our health problems, I have to limit what I make or revise recipes when needed.

There's a clipper system moving through MI today, one of the storm cells in it came through my area and proved to be a bit of an overachiever. I'd been hoping we'd get super lucky and get some graupel out of the system, but noooo, Mother Nature ramped it up to hail. I've never seen that much hail at once before, just very light amounts of much smaller hail, so it was definitely new to me, and I couldn't get disappointed over it.

Now, as for the snow, I'm still waiting on that. The sooner, the better, I wanna throw some snowballs at hubby!

Haha, snowball fight! Haven't had one of those in some time now.

My turn for laundry today and going to wash may hair. Maybe tomorrow I'll color it. I should go through my closet to find what Christmas gifts I have put aside for people so I'll know what else I need to get. I've been a pro at procrastinating.

Yes, it is indeed a blessing that Dada is there with him. I was relieved to hear that.

Your emoticons are cute, tiny, but cute. Another couple of years and I have cataracts surgery. Have no idea how I'll afford it, but I will see better.

I guess it could be my screen. (I'm on a PC and a second-hand not quite broke TV a resident left behind. It's a lot bigger than my 14 inch monitor and a lot easier to see.) It was just a joke, don't worry. As for The Temptations, I think they stopped a long time ago.
