He received charges and penalties.
He was not creating nor distributing content.
He was not found to have directly performed any physical acts, himself.

You make it seem like this is a full pardon. It was not. I read the full article. We don't know what the extent of the judge's other factors are.
However, he mentions that this man put his own life at risk to save others' lives. There must have been direct testimony or character witnesses.

He has an issue, that jail time won't fix.

This is goooooood.

Forcing us to look at the subject in hand analytically?

Perhaps the result of his time served military service damaged his psyche?

I still don't know if I am on your side of the fence with this, the fact that he is searching online means there is a market to be fed. The feeders are therefore encouraged to abuse children.

Let's hope he gets rehabilitated.

As far as I can tell he did not touch any children. If he has I am interested in a source.

I have no proof but I guarantee that whatever country's he was stationed in he most certainly acted upon his impulses to abuse children.

Can never be proven probably but thinking logically all but guarantees he has.

That said, he cannot be punished for something that cannot be proven at this point.

THAT said he most certainly should be in jail for what CAN be proven and j agree with another poster that said the judge should be looked into.

Given all that we've learned about the British government in the preceding years I'm willing to bet that the judge has some connections with some disgusting individuals.

Logic based on emotion?? I love women and there are many beautiful women out in the world, yet I have never done anything ill towards them. Based on your "logic", then I must be a serial rapist, because "thinking logically all but guarantees" that I have.

If you're going to condemn a person, at least condemn them for things they've been proven to have done, not for things you assume they've done.

As long as he lusts for little kids, he will continue to do so until his lusts are fulfilled.

You are right, it we fantasize about something enough the chances become larger and larger that we will end up acting the fantasy out. Getting your rocks off on pictures might suffice for awhile but the thrill will diminish.

We have to remember that these guys are willing to to take great risks just acquiring the pedo photos. To me, that indicates that the compulsion is quite strong to begin with. Someone may start out with no intentions of acting out on this, but having mental compulsions can make you do all sorts of things you didn't plan on doing.

Think of it as a drug misdemeanor...
He wasn’t caught with intent to sell, only intent to use.

I really hope psychiatric help is available to him, and part of his sentence.
This man needs help, serious help...

Or jail time, but he ain’t getting any, so please justice system, reform this individual.

This is very sad. There are no cures that truly work. These affected people can only be banished to places where they have no opportunities to be around children. That should include the ability to download porn etc.

Let's hope the judge is not too affected by royal influence to protect this sick person from the help they obviously need. Apparently this is a thing in the upper classes and royalty so he might be protecting someone higher up or even the judges themselves. We never know.

Military service, no matter how exceptional, is no excuse for breaking laws and abusing children with impunity.

At least will prevent him from raping any kid. That's what jail is for. It's not for "fixing" anyone.

Let's be a bit careful. The guy has a sick mind, but if he has not acted on it, i am not sure you can call him a paedophile... don't know, can we?

Seems like he got punished. Is he a threat?

Will 'reforming this individual' heal the ruined lives, broken hearts, bodies and minds of the 10,000 raped children?

Every single one of those poor raped children are worth a million of the evil people that rape them, pay to ogle them being raped, or seek to protect or excuse the behaviour of those that sexually objectify and exploit children.

Being young Harry Windsor's bodyguard would have meant a lot of international travel, including going to countries where the witch doctors prescribe baby rape as a cure for aids. Seems to me this 'bodyguard' had ample opportunity to procure children.

Being treated with such leniency, having his legals use his military background to fight his corner shows a complete lack of remorse of the victim blaming variety.

Paedophiles and their apologists, including the defence team and the judge are all complicit in ensuring there will be no fewer raped children now than before.

This world needs a serious reset, where child rapists are killed and raped children are healed, loved, nurtured. It is the raped child and not the child rapist that suffers extraordinary PTSD, a life sentence, just so evil people, like this bodyguard, can demand understanding and sympathy from stupid, craven and immoral people who give no thought to the outcome for the raped child.

Life sentence has already been handed to the raped child. End of life sentence is the only equitable outcome for the child rapist.

So as long as you have participated in the sport of killing brown people in far-off nations for the monarchy, bankers, and corporations, you get a pass where kiddie porn is concerned???

The mind simply boggles at the sheer lack of logic displayed by the judge, then again one has to wonder as to the contents or spurious nature of the data on the judges PC i suppose.

Isn't there a conspiracy theory of paedophilia within royalty?
I'm not saying it's true, just put there.

Its a little bit more than just a conspiracy where our royalty and aristocracy is concerned.

The amount of scandal, sex rings and pedophilia in general that has been swept under the carpet over the years by there political brethren who are also up to there necks is the nefarious affairs are rather vast, to say the least.

At first glance, this just reads like 'well you were good at killing people, so we'll let you off for being a paedophile'

(That wasn't a dig at the military, just to be clear)

Er,.. Ahem...The military is a ripe breeding ground for deviance as is the priesthood...id put money on it....just my take...

Do you love women or do you enjoy watching women get raped?
If you watch internet porn then the chances are that you witness women being raped and abused......

Far too much emphasis is put on rehabilitation of sexual offenders and not enough emphasis on the impact of their crimes on their victims.

It seems this person hasn't yet actually acted upon his urges....but should we take the risk and give him the opportunity to do so in the future?

For me in this instance the offender should be chemically castrated and placed on the sex offenders register for life.

That won't/wouldn't necessarily take away the "urge" (I feel dirty just typing that...).

This isn't about the sexual pleasure, at least not solely, they derive from this...it's the power trip, as well. Power over something weaker than themselves. That's not something chemical castration will necessarily fix.

I'm fairly certain that that will vary from case to case, but that does seem to be a constant variable, at least in the limited amount of research that I have.

I know chemical castration has been used before.
In Poland forced chemical castration is allowable on anyone found guilty of raping a child under 15 years old.

Having just read the wiki page on chemical castration it seems that in the USA there are constitutional issues surrounding the practice.
en.wikipedia.org...

I'm hardly an expert on the subject I just feel it must be preferable than allowing people who we know have these sort of urges the opportunity to physically act upon them.
Simply viewing those sort of pictures / movies can be construed as supporting and maintaining paedophilia.

When it comes to these sort of crimes then I think its certainly worth considering; prevention is better than punishment.

It occurs to me, that as Prince Harry's bodyguard, he may have been working for the Prince....

If that were the case, the lenient sentences make a bit of sense.

Otherwise, the only mitigating circumstance I foresee would be one where he was evidence gathering for some internal security operation. I find this scenario highly unlikely, yet plausible.

Not saying any of this happened, just a way to make sense of the sentencing, which should have been quite severe, in most people's opinions.
