I think the "Deep State" may have unleashed upon President Trump what Senator Chuck Schumer warned him about, early in his Presidency.

Two VERY uncharacteristic decisions from President Trump in the past couple of weeks.

1. President Trump changed his mind about having the Spygate documents (FISA, 302's, Emails) IMMEDIATELY declassified for the public to see.

2. President Trump changed his mind about firing Rod Rosenstein, even though 3 top level FBI/DOJ people now verify that Rod Rosenstein was exploring ways to remove Donald Trump from the Presidency. (Wanted to invoke 25th amendment. FBI Attorney - James Baker - said that wouldn't work. So Rosenstein appointed Special Counsel Mueller to do the job, instead.)

Trump is brilliant.

OK...this article/opinion from "American Thinker" makes as much sense as any. Especially for those like me, who hate to think that President Trump is being Out-Matched by his own DOJ.

There's a reason why President Trump has not unilaterally declassified the documents exposing perfidy against him: leverage.

As the whole Russia hoax is beginning to come into some sort of global perspective – quite literally, as we'll see – the extent of the advantage he now maintains by holding back declassification as a threat outweighs the benefits of transparency.

Recent posts by observers who write from widely varying perspectives give us the ability to discern the current state of play.

Some out takes:

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein created the special counsel under fraudulent pretense. That origination material (Ohr 302's, FISA pages, origination EC, and Page/Strzok messages) is now a risk to the Deputy AG.

Trump's leverage ensures that Rosenstein will very much want to restrain Mueller. If Rosenstein wants to restrain Mueller, Mueller will be restrained. This may explain why we are now seeing key members of Mueller's team leaving and returning to their old jobs.

No doubt about it! But HOW LONG will President Trump keep this Spygate "leverage" from the public eye?

On the one hand, releasing the de-classified documents before the election will severely hurt the Democrat brand, thereby decreasing the number of votes Democrat candidates will receive on Nov 6, 2018.

On the other hand, by releasing, the President is giving up his leverage...whether its 20 days from now, or 2 years from now.

Another fascinating disclosure occurred this week. It appears that FBI Director Christopher Wray is being kept in the dark, by deep-state operatives within his agency.

Today, after interviewing head FBI Lawyer James Baker for the second time, with added questions about Rod Rosenstein planning to overthrow President Trump, Congressman Mark Meadows said that Rod Rosenstein should "Resign Immediately"

Two hours later, Meadows announced that Rod Rosenstein had agreed to give closed-door, under-oath testimony to Congress on Wednesday, October 24th.

Additional info this evening...

After a couple of weeks of confusion about whether and when Rosenstein would take lawmakers’ questions on Trump-related topics and others, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) and House Oversight Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) announced Thursday evening that Rosenstein had agreed to a “transcribed interview” next Wednesday.

Goodlatte and Gowdy, who are both retiring from Congress at the end of this session, would be present along with their Democratic counterparts, Reps. Jerry Nadler of New York and Elijah Cummings of Maryland, the statement from Goodlatte and Gowdy said.

The arrangement makes no mention of a subpoena, meaning Rosenstein will not be legally compelled to answer any questions.

In addition, it appears that the Republican lawmakers who have been agitating for Rosenstein’s appearance, including Rep. Mark Meadows of North Carolina and Jim Jordan of Ohio, will have to try to get their questions asked by the committee chairmen.
