VATICAN CITY (CNN) -- Pope John Paul II has been taken back to hospital after suffering a recurrence of the flu that forced him to be hospitalized
for 10 days earlier this month, the Vatican said.
Officials said the 84-year-old pope had a relapse of the flu and was taken to Gemelli hospital at 10:45 a.m. (0945 GMT) on Thursday for "specialist
treatment and further checks."
As recently as Sunday, John Paul II read his weekly address to the faithful Sunday in a relatively strong voice, 10 days after being released from a
hospital where he was treated for breathing difficulties.
