Democrats see opportunities to hang on to power which ever means necessary.

Yada yada this. Yada yada that. There is no sense, no point in what they say. Running circles screaming. Russia Russia Russia. No Russia? Kava Kava Kava. No Kava? Abuse Abuse Abuse? Clinton abused? Something else Something else Something else.

Only total lunatics at this point follow Democrats. Hope Green Party will pick up some of these too, there‘re far too many dingdongs.

What a stupid thing to say man.....c’mon bro

Both sides do the same thing. But as of now the Republicans are doing it better.

Don’t stay blind please.

I challenge that statement
Put some information there , or be silent.
Remember the "Golden Rule" ?

I agree. The OP starts out OK but when it starts to get into how we separate into living in different areas because we like meatloaf and all that, it gets weird. I think most people just remain in the culture they grew up with. Sure, there's always some that want to go live in the big city. That isn't the entire picture for all of us. I will admit that those who stay put tend to value family ties but so do many city people.

“A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear.” ― Marcus Tullius Cicero

Because Democrats are traitors to the republic.

Republicans in this particular instance aren't.

Democrats rot the soul of this nation.

They undermined the rule of law.

The democrats it's ALL about power, and control and will do ANYTHING to get it.

A lot of it has to do with exposure and where people received their programming. Take for example frequent flyers who glance constant intervals to the airport televisions with constant glamorized headlines about how bad things are happening constantly berating the president and the Republican party. Many Repubs are not as vocal about their opinions due to fear of encountering a fruitcake like the ones you see on tv attacking people for their beliefs, race, bloodline and so many other factors used to split people into smaller groups in order to hurt them or indoctrinate them in some way.

Go to poor neighborhoods where people are on some form of governmental assistance they are in constant fear something will be taken away because that is the environment elders are used to experiencing and their exposure to pessimistic views on life are a near constant. People are constantly conditioned by media, schools, political leaders, and their peers to believe only bad things will happen when people who believe differently are in power. While a lot of the above mentioned have begun to erode with the ability of many to find alternative sources for news those channels such as twitter and facebook among other online alternatives to news sources.

Unfortunately, politicians have begun to understand these avenues of uncontrolled news flow are beginning to erode their efforts of maintaining an indoctrinating stream of voters. This occurs often on both sides take for example the never Trumpers attempting to call the trade agreements we have as fair trade. Anyone looking with unbiased eyes who have not constantly been told its fair the way our agreements have been set up see it for the lopsided lobbyist loaded trade agreement it is.

All of Government fears a leader who spreads constant news of great things happening because it erodes their abilities to use the pessimistic ideas to control the masses. Many politicians would jump ship on Trump at the first sign of bad news in order to use negatives to control their voters. Those who view the glass as half full are by far a minority do the training and indoctrination to view things in a negative light. There is a reason the news (right or left) constantly bombard their viewers with negative happenings in the world because the concept of good news is so foreign to the masses it doesn't keep them glued to the source 24/7.

Take for example on ATS here a thread with feel-good news doesn't even compare to the doom porn threads that are in the spectrum of believability receive.

it's kind of about money and power

One side likes to think of itself as individuals. When bad things happen to you, pick yourself up and fight on. They want politicians that will allow them to fail.

The other side says, when a bad thing happens to you, its happens to the whole group. You are a victim and need the government to help. Vote and give money to the politicians who will fight for you and other victims like you.

Standing up for victims sounds noble, but the only way for you to keep getting people to the cause(i.e party), the bar for victimhood, needs to be lowered all the time

Ummm...why would we change it...it’s eminently entertaining...

After this latest fiasco...watch out...there’s going to be a whole new level of crazy going on around here...

It’s really simple to understand...on one hand...you have self proclaimed progressives using everything short of murder in an attempt to sway people who just want to be left alone to pursue their dreams...
These progs...are of the opinion that they know what’s best for you...and by damned...you will swallow their ideology...especially if it kills you...

On the other hand...you have these people that just want to be left alone...who have finally had Enough of being labeled and called names and beaten and had their property destroyed by the prog masses...that they’ve finally grown a pair and refuse to be bitch slapped for having an opinion...

There is no common ground to be had...these are diametrically opposed ideologies...

Just wait for the fourth quarter...after the progs are relegated to that last little corner they’ve painted themselves into...that’s when things get interesting...

My advice...stay tuned...it’s going to be a # show...

I'm one of a few who have stated for quite some time that the Supreme Court needs term limits.

Just imagine the disaster if Hillary The Feckless has won!

It's become the standard to rule (not through legislation) but through the courts.

It's how Obamacare was passed, when the mandate was considered a tax by the Supreme Court.

Our nation is divided. It's only going to get worse.

How is refuting the idiot stereotypes on why Republicans hate Democrats a piece on "why Republicans are right"? Really? The OP said nothing about that at all.

More to the point is how we're talking past one another from two different landscapes. If some leftist is shrieking at me thinking I'm an undereducated, religious zealot who feeds strict meat and potatoes and drinks nothing but Bud, etc., they're missing out.

Heck, I still can't decide if we're making pozole, chicken soup with gondi, or having plain spaghetti and meatballs for our Sunday dinner today. That's a choice between traditional Mexican, Iranian, or Italian ... from a 'Merikan idiot who can't figure out how to do more than make meatloaf and mashed potatoes because I tend to vote away from Big Gov policies.

Yeah, I do like having a well-behaved, respectful kid. But since he's walking the fine line of ADD/ADHD, those qualities are essential to his future success in life. He *needs* to be able to exert control over himself. And yeah, a strong, intact family is part of that, and I see a culture on the left that erodes that belief. They want me to be like that lady I saw interviewed who would be willing to throw her own husband under the bus of a St. Christine of the Ford made empty allegations against him. They want me to trust me partner of over 20 years that little that I'd turn on him over some stranger's ever-changing story.

It's about eroding the things that hold us together so we will turn to those in power to protect us, save us, guide us.

I prefer to do those things on my own with my friends and family around me.

Of course, I also missed where having a well-behaved and respectful kid is diametrically opposed to have a self-reliant and curious kid, too.

Those qualities are not opposites.

Being well-behaved and respectful generally helps him keep his curiosity in check so that his impulsivity doesn't get him in serious trouble. But he has zero trouble trying new things or exploring ... he just has the self-control needed to hopefully think a little before he leaps which might keep him from jumping off the wrong bridge someday.

And self-reliant? That's what you do sports and activities for ... the kind where not everyone gets a trophy. Those things teach a kid how to explore their personal limits and discover those boundaries.

Here is another interesting bit that the media has not reported on.
In addition to kavanaugh have a history of being against the constitution and supporting the patriot act he also has a history 90% of the time in ruling in favor of corporations over the people of this country.

Just what we need, another corporate lapdog in DC.

In Split Decisions, Judge Kavanaugh Sided With Corporations 87% of the Time

None of that tells us much without particulars in each case.

Just because one side of a case is a corporation does not mean that side is automatically wrong before the law. Sometimes, the law is on the side of the corporation no matter how virtuous you want to believe all of the "little guy" plaintiffs are because they're the "little guy" just like sometimes the woman isn't making a believable accusation despite #BelieveAllWomen and #MeToo.

Just because you may view a particular grievance group or side as more deserving doesn't mean the law should always or even mostly fall out on their side.

That's what the legal system is supposed to be for.

started this thread expecting to see rational, nuanced conversation about why people see read such different interpretations into the same events
instead, got point by point refutation about why republicans are right about everything and an insistence that this article [which i thought was honestly pretty objective] is out for repub blood.
backed up by multiple posters saying dems are lunatics.

expect to see a rational discussion of the problem here on ats? how foolish can i be, of course there can only be more of the problem in action.

[before y'all come for me as some Dem Sympathiser, i'm australian and i'm watching your whole terrible political circus in stunned bewilderment. the whole damn thing stinks. it's all terrible and you need to change the entire thing.]

Honestly I cannot understand it in the least.

I do understand people mostly make decisions based on emotions and not facts.

But for the vast majority of Democrats to believe Kavanaugh is guilty when all evidence actually suggests the exact opposite is more than I can comprehend.

I mean it's as stupid as saying you believe the Earth is flat. Although there are a few people that believe that, it is hardly the same as 80%+ of democrats.

I have to say Trumps election has radically changed my view of how reasonable people are. They just aren't for the most part. It has made me understand just how truly powerful peer pressure and manipulation by the media are on a population.

It's actually very scary.

Just came across this article which talks about the current political divide and then proceeds to make generalizations in an almost comical fashion.

Party polarization is tearing at the fabric of American society. The partisan reaction to sexual assault allegations against Brett Kavanaugh demonstrates how far the threads have frayed. An Economist/YouGov poll shows Democrats by about an eight to one margin believe that Kavanaugh committed assault, while Republicans by a similar margin believe he didn’t.

MSM 99%

Democrats automatically believe.

Republicans study and decide based on what the MSM omits.

It is scary, and it's worse when you look at how people identify.

I really do feel bad for women who have been victimized, but I see too many women out there saying they were victimized and putting their own horrible experience in play as though Kavanaugh personally victimized them. They weren't raped or abused or whatever by the man/men who did that ... it was suddenly Kavanaugh who did it to them.

All Christine had to do was tell a story about being touched and they were all in and projecting their trauma at the feet of Kavanaugh too. And how dare anyone not believe it! And they won't hear any of the inconsistencies in her story or anything.

For the rest of us, we don't want to dismiss her claims, but they are serious claims. Like anyone who makes such claims, because of the power they have to completely destroy another person, she needs to be able to provide credible evidence that they are credible and true claims. So we sat back and waited for her to put forward her evidence to prove her story.

And her evidence was shoddy at best. It kept changing. She had no solid facts. Her witnesses all claimed they didn't recall anything like she claimed to recall.

And so we came back her having just her story and several versions of it. So it was weak at best.

And then the political games the politicians around her played with her allegations started to come to light to ...

And then the public hearing happened ...

What about any of that was designed to change anyone's mind if you were skeptical of her before?

Good job of interpreting an article with your bias.

If the country ever gets back to realizing that everyone has an opinion and most are not 100% compatible then things might improve.
