The US Senate voted 51-49 in favor of the cloture motion to set up a final vote on Kavanaugh's confirmation on Saturday.
Judging this is down party lines (as expected), I have to say I'm disgusted with our failed congress/Senate.

The funny thing is all the left had to do for 2-4 years was play it cool, calm and collected. Iron out their ideas, fortify their platform and defeat Trump in 2020 in a landslide and rule the country for the next 20-30 years- - but they just couldn't help themselves. Simply because the socialist in reality is the same rabid animal as the worst offending corporate oligarch. Enough is never enough. Greed reigns supreme no matter what side of the aisle you are sitting on.
Control is the most addicting, deleterious drug for humankind.

Whether Kavanaugh makes it through the votes now or not, the ultimate final verdict comes in November elections.
The democrats went way too far with the politics of personal destruction this time and exposed themselves as the desperate evil corrupt power hungry group they really are, like never before to the American people.
The best part is they don't seem to realize the damage they have done to themselves in this process yet. But they will soon enough.

This is so true.
Trump and his administration have many policy vulnerabilities...and the left has lost its opportunity to capitalize upon them.
Instead they have shown the American public that the cure is far worse than the disease. As bad as Trump's style and rhetoric are, the left looks much, much worse.
But leaving all of that aside. The left also missed an amazing opportunity to make substantial headway on many political issues. Trump was NEVER a traditional 'Republican' president. The Democrats could have worked with him to accomplish many of their goals, still criticized him for real policy differences, and taken the lion's share of the credit for any accomplishments.
"He did this because WE made him," would have been very persuasive to many in the public.
When history writes what has happened in these years, I'm convinced it will say Trump's super power was in unmasking the left and right for the corrupted, unprincipled actors that they have truly become.

if he is voted in we are looking at pretty much the main weapon the dems will be using every night on every news channel until the elections. at least we are getting closer to that Nov. date and stuff should quiet back down some.
I find myself in an odd position where, for the first time, I see myself, one of the original so-called "Never Trump conservatives," voting for Trump in 2020. I have inevitably concluded at times that Trump would do something to push me away from him. He has not disappointed on that front, from tariffs to character issues. But now I do not see how anyone else can offer a more compelling alternative to the president. Each time the president does something I do not like, his opponents play a game of "hold my beer."
...[Trump] is positively angelic compared to his political opponents and the press.
Between Trump and his opposition, I would rather vote for him, despite his flaws... Trump is neither an ambassador for my values nor the articulate champion of my principles I would prefer. But he is a safe harbor in a progressive storm that seeks to both destroy my values and upend our constitutional republic.
