Bizarre video was released from Khartoum today, showing an An-26 landing, followed a few seconds later by an An-32. As the aircraft rolled down the runway the An-32 overtook the -26, and collided with its tail. It's believed the aircraft were trying a formation landing. Not much more is known at this point.

This is what happens when things get awkward at the pilot’s swinger club!
Those IL an ANs are always finding new and exciting ways in to the crash records....

Seems like serious fup by atc and pilots of the second aircraft, attempting to land on an occupied runway.

Going by online info this aircraft type has a min landing distance of just 600m. The collision apparently happened in the rear section of the runway, 1900m past threshold. What were they trying to do, overshoot?

OMG did you see how the An32 was trying to slam the aircraft into the runway repeatedly!!!

The only thing I can think of is a formation landing gone wrong. Which would be almost as bad to attempt like that in those aircraft.

Formation landing with transport aircraft sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.

There is a new video on the tube.

Looks pretty crazy. I am impressed by the sturdiness of the landing gear and the aircraft itself.

Why is anyone surprised ts Africa so anything is possible. Stuff goes on all the time there that would leave a lot of seasoned western investigators gob smacked.

Not surprised in the least. But you don't usually get to watch the stupidity happening.

The former Soviet pilots still getting pushed out of the piloting by the South Africans? Or did they mostly die off or quit before said demise?

Africa is known for playing fast and loose with aviation regulations. There was an ATC strike recently that was downplayed in a big way, but had them bringing in retirees, supervisors, and barely trained personnel to cover for the ones on strike.

Fun stuff as if it wasn’t bad enough before. My favorite Russian crew story is when the DOD needed a big genset delivered to a FOB with no fuel and a Russian crew made a bid at 2 million for the job. The DOD didn’t have another option so they agreed the crew got the most dilapidated IL76 they could landed it parked on the side of the strip and left in a taxi abandoning the IL and walking away with 1.5m in profit, gotta love those Wylie anticts!

He comes down in the wake and gets into PIO. Then there's not enough time to avoid the lead aircraft.
