What proceedings, it wasn't a trial it was an interview.

He was under oath.
He lied repeatedly.

That said an interview has a much lower bar of failure than a trial.

Lack of candor, demeanor, dishonesty and temperament are all critical factors.

That is why tons of conservative legal scholars have withdrawn their support for Kavenaugh without even addressing the question of his guilt or innocence.

His character fails as a nominee for SCOTUS.

Consider the recent political climate however, where the President himself routinely lies and contradicts himself in the same breath as a matter of course (if for no other reason than he can and his supporters love him for it). Kavanaugh showing his character to be volatile/unstable and lacking candor is likely a major positive for him among Trump supporters for the same reason.

Interview is all about getting hired. We'll find out if he does.

Oh I think he will.

I think he will get appointed with the fewest votes in the History of the Supreme Court and as the first Nominee where a former Supreme Court Justice (Conservative to boot) opposed his candidacy.

I think it is, like most things Trump, short-sighted. It will cost the conservatives more in the long run more than it gains.

No doubt, he is an ideal nominee in this "political climate".
And that is everything that is wrong with him.
The contagion of dishonesty and ugly politics is spreading to the SCOTUS via Kavenaugh as a carrier.

Yea.

A heavily unbalanced judicial system is a real good idea.

Real good.

Elections have consequences
Like Barak said
ANYONE but that hag would have beaten trump
Too bad the dnc shoved her down your throat
Think she would have worried about an unbalanced judicial system?
I do not

She would have been limited in her roster of nominees, knowing she needed to get approval by 60+ in a GOP Senate.

With the GOP having majorities in all three branches of government and having expanded the nuclear option (just 51 votes needed to confirm) to SCOTUS nominees, the immune system (balance of powers) that shielded the SCOTUS from being contaminated and politicized is just weak enough for the GOP's virus to take hold in SCOTUS.

We will see how effective the medication is at slowing or reversing the disease come November 8th.

Oh we will definitely see come november.
Unfounded accusations of gang rape hang around the necks of every dem senator who participated.
The dems are just nasty.

Did you notice another classmate came out and substantiated the claim in a sworn statement?

Did you notice their were over 20 potential witnesses provided to the FBI, none of them of which the WH gave the OK to talk to?

The accusations were in fact "founded", they were not investigated and thus not proven.

I think there would be more than that. Mass violence comes to mind.

Right and the GOP said they were all in before the hearings.

Politics aside, a SCOTUS nominee is supposed to be much better than this.

The GOP can wear this nomination proudly.

Watch what follows.

Piercing screams to rupture ear-drums, and sharpened protest signs.

"Yet another accuser has come forward (see sworn stmt below). She is prepared to meet with the FBI today and disclose multiple facts and witnesses,"

And this

Appold, who is the James Hastings Nichols Professor of Reformation History at Princeton Theological Seminary, said that he first heard about the alleged incident involving Kavanaugh and Ramirez either the night it occurred or a day or two later. Appold said that he was “one-hundred-per-cent certain” that he was told that Kavanaugh was the male student who exposed himself to Ramirez. He said that he never discussed the allegation with Ramirez, whom he said he barely knew in college. But he recalled details—which, he said, an eyewitness described to him at the time—that match Ramirez’s memory of what happened. “I can corroborate Debbie’s account,” he said in an interview. “I believe her because it matches the same story I heard thirty-five years ago, although the two of us have never talked.”

Appold, who won two Fulbright Fellowships, and earned his Ph.D. in religious studies from Yale in 1994, also recalled telling his graduate-school roommate about the incident in 1989 or 1990. That roommate, Michael Wetstone, who is now an architect, confirmed Appold’s account and said, “It stood out in our minds because it was a shocking story of transgression.”
