Brett Kavanaugh's classmate says he lied about drinking

A classmate of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh has accused the judge of lying under oath about "heavy" alcoholic drinking.
Charles Ludington said he was "deeply troubled" by Judge Kavanaugh's "blatant mischaracterisation". The judge denies drinking to the point of memory loss.

Prof Ludington, who teaches at North Carolina State University, said he had seen Judge Kavanaugh slurring his words and staggering after excessive alcohol consumption while at Yale.

The professor also said Judge Kavanaugh "was often belligerent and aggressive" when drunk.

"I can unequivocally say that in denying the possibility that he ever blacked out from drinking, and in downplaying the degree and frequency of his drinking, Brett has not told the truth."

He noted that it was not Judge Kavanaugh's drinking habits in college that worried him - it was the fact that he made questionable statements under oath.

"If he lied about his past actions on national television, and more especially while speaking under oath in front of the United States Senate, I believe those lies should have consequences," Prof Ludington said.

He said he drank beer, a lot... Said he never blacked out, so unless someone can say they saw him with memory loss of the night before how can you say what he said is wrong?

I drank a lot in school, never blacked out, never had a night I didn't remember everything the next day.

The point here is to suggest that he could drink so much that he could have sexually assaulted someone and not remember... what a crock

He started his statement by admitting he sometimes drank too much. Sounds like he told the truth to me.

He will have to submit to a statement under penalty of felony.

The "Professor" has not done that.

I wonder why?

I don't think he can recover from the outpouring of his former friends and classmates that he is a sloppy drunk who slurred his words and was unbalanced in public due to his alcoholism.

We don't need a drunk on the supreme court, especially on with sever anger issues and a background of sexual abuse.

So the witness says he witnessed Kavanaugh drinking to the point of slurred speech and staggering, but doesn't say he ever saw him blacked out drunk... yet he's saying he thinks Kavanaugh is lying about having never blacked out (despite Kavanaugh admitting under oath that he'd drank too much on occassion)?

If drinking in high school or college and going to parties is reason for disqualification at high levels in government then virtually everyone in Washington should be disqualified.

Republicans and democrats!

A lot of them are old now and still drink heavily.
