Because Americans aim to maim and kill. Some of us aren't as open minded as your proud Muslim nation. I'm going to laugh when we blow it up. "Living in quiet desperation is the English way," I thought you guys were cool, edgy, rebellious ,smart, revolutionary mo #as. But no, you guys are fake internet twats, who make let's play videos and nonsense tutorials for trivial garbage to make ends meet. You guys are supposed to be the catalyst to the revolution because you have the most pressure on you.. so wtf, lively up yourselves! Burn the royalty in the streets ! I'm sick of seeing their faces on the news pages every single day for years on end. Fight for your right to procreate! Get off your Go Fund Mes and rob an armored car. Ever seen the movie The Town? That should be you guys.

I don't think the premise is correct.

Under the surface the divide in the UK is as venomous as in the USA and along similar lines. Go play as a brexiteer on remainer Twitter or vice versa. See how much civility there isn't.

Ats is dominated by USA politics as it's dominated by Americans and American politics affect the world to an extent UK politics does not.

That's the official narrative, not that it's not a glorious one or out of the realm of possibility, but how are you so sure that it wasn't orchestrated? I mean, say that Britain was moving the strings the whole time and we only believe we won because that's what they wanted us to believe so they could maintain control and get us to simmer down and keep following rules .Ever read Machiavelli? The US is a corporation and financial asset for the British crown. Why else are the lame royal family always in the news for every trivial thing. The media follows them to a closer degree than celebrities..

Eh, to his defense I think that the left and right are more homogenized in America than other countries. That said, I don't follow other countries politics too much, so please anyone correct me if I'm wrong.

The ONLY thing I KNOW about politics™ is it is a fricking scheme and arguing about which letter You have in front of Your name is asinine in My opinion. I also KNOW any TURD who thinks they should be a politician™ is a fricking CROOK... so I ask You:

Why the •snip• would I pay ANY heed to ANY politics™? Foreign or domestic? I linked some info re: the US Gov't. being able t use PROPAGANDA and it is LAWFUL. I then linked 2 broadcasts of what passes as "news" It is ALL SCRIPTED!!

But don't let Me stand in the way of an argument that will never solve... I think that smart guy, Alfred Epstein said that was the definition of "insanity"....
You might pay attention to politics if they keep trying to legalize pedophilia and decide to abolish the age of consent in America the way they did in France. They want you to sleep on them. That's why mainstream news is biased, nonsense and is utterly boring.. they want you to get tired of it and never read it again.

Joking and then having a real discussion always looks better than getting butt hurt which is what OP was referring to.

There, I said it.
Is it that we are simply more civilised or is there some other reason?
Every day y'all in the US are angry and outraged with each other to the point I imagine you frothing at the mouth while rocking in a chair with crazed eyes. If you are left you hate everything right and the anger is surprising to me as a Brit.

We have a massive polarising issue going on at the moment with Brexit possibly the biggest issue to affect our country in generations, and yes there is some anger on both sides, but overall there is also decent banter and a few laughs between the opposing sides.
None of the UK political threads even get posted in the mudpit, and there are very few posts removed by mods.

So what is it then? How come Brits can argue and debate with friendly banter thrown into the mix but US political discussion is mostly posted in the pit with venom and anger a plenty?
Do y'all just like being angry?

Britain's no longer relevant, America's the most important country in the world. :-)

U.S.-envy, gotta love it. :-)

The honest reason is that the political atmosphere in the US is toxic. There's a lot of theories on why that is from our media to our governments structure. I think it's the latter. In the US we are not properly represented. The House which is supposed to be equal, is inequal. The Senate which is supposed to be for the states, is now answering to the people.

Our government is simply unbalanced and needs reformed. The House needs dramatic expansion, the Senate needs to stop answering to the people, the executive apparently needs some official structure from one administration to the next, and the Supreme Court probably needs to rethink lifetime appointments.

That's to say nothing about ranked choice voting.

Americans are frothing at the mouth because the very basis of our system of government is flawed, and it doesn't seem likely we're getting a fix any time soon.

Lol I'm not envious of the US!
A fine nation of people for sure but I'd miss things like universal healthcare and other such socialist stuff.

This thread is about angry American folk arguing politics compared to Brits on ATS who manage to keep it cool and even have some banter.
Did you even read the OP?

EDIT
I am envious of US weather in places like FL though, I'll admit that lol

The weather. YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE WEATHER!.
I was in Cali in June decades ago. You've never felt heat like in the southern part of the States.

Well they would in FMM. That is the real land of the frozen chosen. Here our summers are in the mid 30's. Humid as hell. Cali was over 100f.

Frozen chosen haha! I have family up there, will visit one day and make sure I pack my hat.
You Canadians don't seem to get as angry with politics like US members either...or does that all change when the discussion involves Quebec?

Lol, do you reckon Canada will still play nice with Britain now you've got your cozy trade deal with your new best friends at the EU?
They won't even offer us that yet, they're playing hardball, we'll have babies starving to death on the streets apparently and need a bail-out from you guys. Lend us a few billion from your maple syrup reserves?
