I understand completely. Former Dem myself. The thing is, I didn't move, they did. The Left have moved so far I am considered Right now.

And that is the point, I guess.

What used to be "my" party is now full-blown radicals that appear to have mental issues and can't do math.

I was appalled at the Kavanagh hearings today... it was shameful.

Watching this is watching America unwinding, becoming less "civil"ized as we go.

I don't want that for my children.

I am going to stay where I am. I am close to the middle. Parties seem to have a way of shifting directions. I might be included in the Antifa group 10 years down the road. It is kind of strange how things happen.

Welcome to my world, I went full on republican went Obama gave the speech about, you didn’t build that business, the government helped you build that business. Then when the DNC screwed Bernie it sealed the deal. I will never vote blue again.

How was that remotely responsive to what I said? You seem to have a lot of confusion that you try to obviate by embracing an alternate reality.

In one breath you're trying to pass off this claptrap shtick about having had a political change of heart today, transparently begging for affirmation, and in the next breath, you say you would have voted for Ted Cruz for President in 2016.

Ted Cruz is a nut. He was brainwashed from a young age by his fanatic father, groomed — hell, literally anointed by his fundie cult — to promote their agenda of creeping theocracy. You can't get much further to the right. Hell, as much as I dislike Trump, if the choice had been Trump and Cruz, I would have voted for Trump without hesitation.

And you act as though you've been bouncing around in the middle. You clearly have not. Then again, maybe you just don't know any better. You're awfully loose with the labels so maybe all it takes for you is hearing Ted Cruz call himself a constitutionalist. I could see how that could appeal to you with this lame ass virtue signaling:

Simply because I think that a civilized society should play by the rules. The law.

In our case, the Constitution.

A foreign concept for a Progressive, I know.

Because all they want to do is bend, circumvent or break the law with impunity.

I don't what's more ironic — the first bit or you going from that typical authoritarian "law & order" rhetoric to:

Life is too short to verbally spar with someone such as yourself. A statist.

Utterly oblivious.

You are the problem with America, not the solution.

Sounds ominous. I cringe to think what people who think like that would do to my constitutional rights if given the opportunity.

Something else that clicked with me today.

I think that clicking is probably a gear sticking.

By the way, don't feel bad if I don't reply to you anymore.

Who are you kidding?

I thought I was in the middle until I was informed that I was now an alt-right extremist.

My father is a classical liberal... pay the bills, help the needy, keep the government out of my life type of liberal.

I don't know where I am going to be 10 years from now politically either.

I just know what wrong is... and what happened today is WRONG.

I don't want to be a part of that.

Great post!

I am an Independent as well. Always will be.

I will NEVER vote Democrat again in my life.

I may not always vote Republican but I will NEVER vote Democrat again.

Democrats = no 2d no guns no freedom without government all encompassing permission.

A social score as per the Chinese Dragon fly software complements of Google. They just bumped off 4000 web sights in China..

There used to be a saying something like, "better for 10 crooks to be set free than one innocent person convicted." Both parties will burn your butt if it is to their advantage but I gota hand it to the democrats after watching the KAV nomination.. They can do it with a straight forlorn face or even smile while they are doing it..

In another thread someone said A.I. would be better than all the drama drama drama we see in our present two party system.. I do not know how that would work but almost anything is better than what I have seen from the democrats who only want to tear down instead of build a better future for America. But I think I understand, for their idea of a better future is everyone dependent on the all encompassing rules and regulations of the controlling government..

All anyone has to do is dig just a little into the practices of the Chinese Communist and you will see the democratic road map they want for America. Social scores and the total control of the internet

When Trump says national sovereignty and secure borders they screw themselves into a hissy fit because that does not fit their new world order marching orders....

There are a few Democrats that I think are worthy of consideration but unfortunately I could never vote for them simply because of what the DNC has become. Pelosi, Feinstein, and Waters make me want to barf just to name a few .

I too consider myself an independent who, after the last two years of Trump-inspired insanity by the left, and now this latest character assassination charade, has decided that I will NEVER vote for any Democrat again. I don't ever want to be associated with those people.

My views tend to lean towards Classical Liberalism, and thus I tend to vote for the individual, not the party. I've voted for R, D, L, and G candidates over the last 20 years or so. I even voted for Bernie as recently as the primaries of this last election, but never again. I'm #walkingaway.

Congrats Dems, you will never get another vote from this swing voter.

If they gain power again, it is going to be another two years of smear, obstruct, deny, accuse.

There's the flaw in your argument. That's going to continue no matter what happens in November.

If you listen to Democrats the main issues are: "women, women, women, women, minorities, sexual deviants, etc"

If you listen to Republican patriots, it is: "Constitution"

Only one party has the temperament and intelligence to govern properly, under the strict rules set forth and proscribed by our Constitution. The Constitution's commands are not optional or debatable.

There was a time when I was set on voting independent, right here on ATS.
I could not bring myself to vote for John McCain, so I voted for the
independent that Paul recommended.

Then Obama won. Starting with Obama and some of his executive orders,
along with his divisive rhetoric, and intentional stagnation of the economy,
droning them all, and many other things.

It didn't stop there, we had the Iran deal bypassing congress, we had
the DNC leaked emails revealing total corruption. Obama participating
in the Benghazi lie, Fast and Furious, too much to mention.

Then he supported Hillary in her crimes.

All of this is indelibly etched into the hippocampus.

I will never again vote for a Democrat and most likely will
vote a straight Republican ticket for the rest of my life.

I know America's women seem to be getting tired of their nonsense. Look at Jim Acosta at the Trump press conference the other day, he specifically mentioned "Can you call on one of my female colleagues?" as though 1) his female colleagues needed help getting noticed and 2) as if they hadn't already asked a series of questions before Acosta even spoke

Isn't this behavior exactly the stuff the left rails against? Why do they keep treating women as an election issue, a voting bloc or a point of division instead of recognizing America's women have always been fiercely independent and can & will get along just fine without do-gooder white knights riding to the rescue

I had to quote you because your statement is the cold hard truth.

another famous politician said the same thing .

it was ronald regan.

he was a democrat and stated "i didnt leave the party, the party left me"

he could have been one of the greatest democrats ever and someone they could have used as a model and role model

unlike KKK former (?) leader sen byrd.

but instead he is known as one of the greatest politicians along with greatest republican ever.
the democrats vilified him and yet he won with a majority they could only dream of and took many democrats (does the word regan democrats ring a bell) with him.

you (and many more than liberal democrats are willing to admit) are a result of this idea they can do whatever they want and you will still be loyal.

they have not learned the saying ...

those that do not study history are doomed to repeat it

It will be the new Schumer Rule of guilty unless you can prove yourself innocent

I do have to disagree here.

When the left says your guilty of something based on BELIEF. That's it.

Due process and innocence doesn't even enter to it.

Anyone that's paid an ounce to the rule of law knows without question.

What you believe, and what you can prove are two entirely different animals.

If you believe in the rule of law, and the future of this country doesn't further devolve into despotism.

Vote R or I this novemeber.

There are no excuses of sitting the midterms out.

Effing participate.

I feel like this has backfired on them and there will be a huge backlash at the polls (as if this needed to help). They have really shown us who they are the past 2 years. I will respond with my vote.

Truth.

I've been posting similar thoughts on my social media accounts for a month or so.

I'm an Independent. I've voted all over the political spectrum my whole adult life but the left has gone SO far left, I cannot vote for them anymore. I will vote my very first straight party-line ticket this year.

The true face of communism and socialism IS today's Democrats.

It's not me who's changed, I still believe in the same things I always have, but I've been forced to defend the right in the face of bold faced lies so many times over the last 10+ years, that it seems like I'm a die hard Republican to the left.

I'm not alone, this thread proves that. I have quite a few Independent friends and they've all said the same thing.

When you've lost Independents, you've LOST. We value freedom, more so I think than others. And the left certainly does not believe in freedom anymore. Not even close.

#walkaway or support tyrrany in America. It really is that simple to logical and reasonable minds.

This is a beautiful thing but I have to say, many of you do not sound like republicans.
I would like to extend the olive branch and welcome you to the Libertarian party.

We need more true libertarians.

Lately it seems we have had a bunch of lefty left left liberals who somehow think they are libertarian.

We have also had freaks who agree we should have totally open borders come to the party.

Then we have those anarchist that think they are Libertarian.

Don't even get me started on the ones that...........

NVM....

Do y'all have room for one more?
