Why would Trump resign when he is absolutely winning?

I don't believe he will resign or be impeached. I do think there's a good chance he loses a primary for 2020 though.

To whom?

Eta. The title of this thread should be : Reeeee, look at Meeeee. I'm British and I hate Trump and I want to talk about how evil he is and stuff.

Well if he did that he'd have to go back and change soooo many of his thread titles.

Hahahahaha.

Lol.

I'm not sure yet. Early frontrunners rarely make it all the way to the finish line though, so if there were a prime candidate right now I would be skeptical they could pull it off. I would love to see Kasich run.

Leave on a high note while he still can, claim victory, and "retire" into the sweet life of an ex-President with phenomenal public speaking fees and rake in the dough by being put on the Board of Directors of the biggest companies on the planet?

Being President is hard work. Being ex-President is cake.

I've said it before, there are some things Trump has done I can agree with. However, I feel his arrogance, contradictions, lies, name calling, praising dictators and a whole list of other character flaws overshadows anything positive he's done. He has trampled on basic American values and demeaned some veterans. An American president should be unifying our nation, but he has done nothing of the sort.

I have to agree with jrod, he's too arrogant to resign. However, if the shoe was on the other foot and if Trump was a democrat, you can bet your last dollar, conservatives who make up the majority would have impeached him months ago! One thing this presidency has done, it's exposed the true self-serving colors of our political system.

Its really interesting how the two sides seem to be in agreement that he probably won't resign yet for wildly different reasons.

I think you could be right, he is simple to arrogant to resign, however I do think that if it came to it I think he would resign then make a load of excuses.

Hypothetically, if there is enough evidence for impeachment, my guess is he would have to be escorted out by the SS.

Wrong. It is because of personal commitment and integrity that he doesn't resign.

Wishful thinking by all the losers that complained before Trump won, that he might not respect the election results because they "knew" Hillary would easily win.

It's the arrogance of the LOSERS which thinks he should either be impeached or resign, because of their own failure to respect the election results after the American people VOTED HIM IN THERE.

Trump isn't just some petty quitter like the DNC who DID have people resign for corruption after Hillary lost.

He's probably close to the breaking point.

Trump has never been what I would call engaged, he just sits in the center of the storm and lets everything revolve around him. In the last couple weeks though, especially in the last two weeks he seems to be trying to take a more active role. I don't know why... maybe he hasn't been happy with how things are going, maybe he's been bored, or maybe he finally figured out that he's turning into a figurehead and hemmoraging power.

Whatever the case may be, he seems to be trying to be directly involved on several fronts for perhaps the first time ever. He took point on defending Kavanaugh as of Tuesday and it has been a disaster. He went to the UN and quite possibly lived down his actual worst fear which is the entire world literally laughing the US President off the stage. His last ditch effort to stop Mueller might now fail, and if it doesn't it's going to cost him big in the midterms. Fox, the one network that liked him, is now openly criticizing him. We're rapidly closing in on October Surprise territory. Deficits are out of control, America has permanently lost trading partners, farmer welfare is woefully insufficient, we're teetering on an unstable food supply, North Korea is openly defying our nuclear "deal", Australia is aligning with China, Canada is about to stop being our ally, and the list goes on and on. Foreign policy has been hit with King Mierdas's Touch.

None of this will lead to an impeachment or resignation, but behind closed doors I wonder if Trump realizes and is angry with himself over just how bad he has screwed it all up.

Trump will never resign, I don’t think he has it in him. He’d have to face the reality of who and what he is and I don’t think that’s possible at his advanced age.

It’s more likely he continues to lie and use his power and appointed lackeys to obfuscate and distract from the truth every chance he gets.

Wow, that sounds like a Dem!

He ain't goin nowheres.

We won't let him!!

MAGA for Life!

Stomp the dems like a bad monster movie!

YAY!! Gozilla!

"Is that a monkey?"

lol.

For a thin skinned mofo he sure shrugs off the slings and arrows.

I hope i am still wearing my mortal coils in 2020.

That is gonna be a trip!

Let's get past the mid terms first, OK?

"the deep state has been exposed" (LOL) really? Just WHO makes up the "Deep State"(LOL).

Dude, there are very few EDUCATED people, who are not rich that support trump anymore. Nixon had supporters till the end too.....

Also, you people tend to blow off, the FACT that Russia spent MILLIONS and had THOUSANDS of people working to get trump elected...That is in THE SENATE REPORT!

I can GUARANTEE if Russia had done that for Hillary, she would be in Office right now! She would have not only won the poplular vote(which she did by MILLIONS) she would have wiped the floor with trump! Oh yeah, and if that would have happened you would be pissed off at Russia.

Trump said yesterday China is meddling in the elections now, and for democrats....Funny that trump did not do crap about Russia, but China is a threat, because its ANTI TRUMP! FACT!

Who the f cares what these debt laden idiots think?

They are just looking for an easy out. That will never happen.

I got out of HS by the skin of my teeth and went to CC for a year.

I am doing ok in HK.

Looking at another house tmw. Which pisses me off coz for what that costs I could buy a ranch in the US.

But my wife can't go. Chinese passport. No green card.

Unless we sneak in through mexico across the Rio, I can't swim.

Maybe 30 yo it would be exciting but over 60, not so much.

Ok so why didn't Russia help hillary?

They were still mad about the reset button?

Her no fly zone over syria?

Double cross on the U-1 deal?

Why? She helped with the secret spy place. What is that called?

What I have noticed:

People who partake in media, who take queues on their opinions from celebrities....these people tend to hate Trump. Because media hates Trump.

People who do not partake in media, who do not allow celebrities to help them formulate opinions, generally approve of Trump.

Tell me im wrong. And when you can't, tell me why this is so.

I don't watch TV and pretty much only read the BBC for my fix of worldly events. So I don't see the vitriol all that much.

He's your President, if I had a vote I wouldn't have approved of him but I don't think it's all that simple, I tend to judge people on their actions and not my preconceptions of them.

With all that being said, there's a few actions he's done I approve of, others I don't. It's the same for every political entity. Rarely are they all good or all bad.

In a side note, I had an interesting conversation the other day about the potential for Trump to run not as a Republican in 2020. Wouldn't that be interesting?

What you should be asking is, what will the reaction be of those of us who support him if the democrats try to remove him? I think people know what's going on right now and they have had enough. You will see this in the result of the midterms. Every sleazy thing the democrats do now is going to work against them. They will be swept from power in a few weeks and it cant come too soon for me.

I agree with the entirety of this post.

I just dont see myself voting for Trump. While the nonsense may make me sympathetic....sympathy isnt enough

That said....i could see a few results that would win me over. Like disbanding the deep state intel agencies. Restoring privacy. That kind of stuff.

I've talked about this before. Probably on this forum too.

It really would be a ground breaking moment in history if Trump ran independent and still won.
