In the construction world, those things are used commonly as a joke and to make fun of someone.

Does that mean he is a homophobe or does that mean he is just disgusted by it. The same way that someone else is would be disgusted to be around things that disgust them. Or maybe just saying homophobe is easier than learning the exact reason they feel that way.
