Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein has verbally resigned to Chief of Staff John Kelly in anticipation of being fired by President Trump, according to a source with direct knowledge. Per a second source with direct knowledge: “He’s expecting to be fired,” so he plans to step down.

www.axios.com...

As always, we should wait for conformation with anonymous sources, but if true this is huge.

I dont like him so good riddance.

And if he resigns, it will be harder for the dems to claim obstruction, though they will anyways.

well now this is an interesting development
I wonder what would make a career leo step down so suddenly......

I think it is illegal to record the POTUS. It seems like I read it in some law, but until I find it I will just say I think....

I would need a citation that it's illegal to record a politician.

On Twitter

NBC's Pete Williams, gold standard in #DOJ reporting, says #Rosenstein en route to White House, won't resign and will force them to fire him. As I am told, Vacancies Act only kicks in if he resigns.

I would accept the resignation if i was trump.

What good would keeping a known enemy of his on staff be?

The only possible benefit would be as an appeasement to the never trumpers, but nothing he does will ever satisfy them anyways.

Because if push comes to shove you can say, 'Look, I didn't even fire this bozo, I let him stay and this was the type of disloyal scumbag I was delaying with. I've been right all along'. Or something to that effect.

That's 4D chess, firing people is zero-D chess.

I disagree.

Who would that staement be good for?

Wouyld never trumpers be like "oh yeah, what a great thing trump did! Maybe I was right about this guy!"

Of course not.

SO there is no upside as far as I am concerned.

the down side you have to keep a person you know is out to take you down who has been witholding documents from your allies and stonewalling at every possible chance.

So I say accept the resignation.

It is sedition when it is part of his stated plan to unseat the president.

Resigning admits his guilt. Which makes the whole Special Counsel dirty. That will be over soon.

Yes thats sounds more like the rosenstien we all know!

Force trump to fire him so that all of the never trumpers can scream obstruction!

(BTW, its not obstruction to fire someone if you think they were trying to secretly record you and get you kicked from office)

Man its getting hard to follow this 50D chess.

Who is in charge of the FISA declass now that he resigned?

He didn't plan anything, he suggested it.

I take the opinion of people like Alan Dershowitz over the internet any day. He felt it wasn't illegal and that even if they had try to implement that directive it wouldn't have gone through.

Lisa Page is credible because she is outing everyone else to protect herself.

She is still a sleaze for what she did to Trump and for Clinton.

So if trumps doesnt fire him or accept a resignation, this is proof of something for you?

What is it proof of?

It seems strange to say that a president should keep a person who hates him and is stonewalling him and trying to kick him from office just so people can think hey that trumps a pretty good guy

How? Most of the people he has gotten rid of or who have resigned on their own were appointed by... Trump.

You think if I was a CEO and had a crazy turnover of the people I hired, the board would have meetings talking about "my genius"?

Pretty sure surreptitiously recording conversations in the White House with the intent to invoke the 25th would be considered Sedition

He is on his way to the white house right now.

His resignation could also be in anticipation of the pending declassification of the FISA documents.

He is likely not going to look good when that comes out.

Top me I dont think what rosenstien is alleged to have suggested or done is sedition or any crime.

It is what happened around that that is suspicious.

he wrote the letter to recommend firing comey, then claimed to be distraught about it to the point he suggested recording trump and using the 25th amendment, then he sees comey leaks documents to get a special counsel, and so he appoints comeys mentor as the special counsel

Almost like he had an incentive to pick a person he felt had the best chance of getting trump out of office.

That is what is troubling.

If rosenstien did what was alleged, then he should have totally recused himself from picking a special counselor, and yet he didnt.
