I thought pet foxes were already a thing, at least here in the US?
Back in the 80's our neighbors had a pet fox. It was silver.
Dang thing got out of the house one time and almost got me busted sneaking back into my house at night. Our dog never barked, but I was halfway in the window, and she started barking, I turned around and the fox was right at my feet, like I was going to let it in.
Then I heard the next day that it had gotten out of their house.
I've heard of other people having them too.
I couldn't now. I wouldn't want it to eat my chickens or ducks.

If it were a Kitsune. It would be a lot of fun to try and match wits with legendary trickster and mischief maker. Although, the Coyote and Raven are more the western versions.

I gather foxes stink, but so would I if I lived in woods, and nobody ever took me to the doggie parlor.

Lol. Even "parloured" foxes are smelly. It's their natural....musk.
